What a POS!
Impressive. Tracked? Honed? How was it maintained?

Thanks.

It is important to change these together with a better battery. It gives a better spark and faster burning, although I thing it is the same with advancing the timing in normal tuning. In Japan they don't change too much the ECU parameters, so it is an indirect way to do it. If you try to put these fuses in a good tuned car, you won't gain much or you might even loose a bit because the engine will try to retard timing.

No, they aren't the same at all. No amount extra spark from fuses.. would have the same effect as advancing the timing. A the battery with a lower IR might lessens alternator load slightly which might give you slightly better transient response when the electrical system pulls current and might give you 1whp which is in the noise of most dynos.

Improvement in the dyno was in the range of ~5hp and they tested it also under city driving and in the track. Tsuchiya saw it first in a 100,000km 86 tuned by Orido and he was laughing. Then Orido convinced him to try it in his car and now Tsuchiya even suggests it, BUT as I said in most Western tuned cars with changed ignition timing it won't add much or it'll even loose power.

Oh I have YouTube, I've seen the same videos months back. You are talking about this correct? Pulled directly from the website. You are aware the ECU relearns many parameters when you change a battery and pull fuses; right? Any gain that you think is there could be erased in 100km. I like Orido but he has a business to run as well..

I am not promoting their products and I am not referring only to YouTube. I was talking in the past with Mr. Yoshinobu Okada who is doing a kind of similar change with the plasma direct coil packs. He was getting exactly the same gains of about 5hp on the average. So, I don't think all these to be a coincidence on a stock engine and ECU or just snake oil. Would I put them to my car? Answer is NO. I believe these products are targeted mainly for the Japanese market and have a very high $/hp rate. Besides this car is not all about engine performance per se. If people are looking mainly for engine power, then they took a wrong decision and bought the wrong car.

Never been on a track. But sometimes I pretend. I like to have fun with the car from time to time.
Maintenance consists of changing the oil. I use 0-20 like I'm supposed to. And I fill up the windshield washer when it needs it.

For mods I have:

Performance: Open Flash Header, Manzo Cat-Back, Phantom ESC, K&N Dropin Filter, OFT 93 octane ESC Stage1 Tune with Cold Start Delete, Also OFT E85 ESC stage 1 Tune.

Cosmetics: Eibach Pro-Kit springs, Mudguards, Front Airdam Spoiler Thing, Rear Spoiler, Rear Diffuser Thing, 235/45/17 tires (anything will work, the cheaper the better because they don't last long) and some Cool Stripes.

Almost forgot my most usefull mod: My Bitchin' Bike Rack.

Changing fuses, better spark? This is just all noise.

For such a emissions regulated country like Japan, there's only so much you can do to 'tune' a car for more power. You're better off removing unnecessary weight and/or replacing with lighter parts. This is already pretty difficult to do unless you don't want to daily your car.

Tsukuba Circuit timings

DK86's car MT with 18" PS4S: 1'07"80 (older timing)

Orido's car AT with HKS S/C: 1'05"874
GR86 MT with 18" PS4: 1'08"866

A good tuned previous generation car is still faster . However, a very good achievement for the new car in stock form.

I think the fuses are lighter as well.

Does Japan have strict emissions rules? Dang, I thought they are less strict than in other countries.

NA modification is not for everyone. It goes little by little and requires a lot of time and devotion. DK started working on this car the last few years when all the rest were "done" and just waiting the new model. Don't underestimate him.
