Center console

Hi Guys, I am looking to buy a new 2022 BRZ.

Brz owners for 1st gen, can you please tell me if the center console is too close to your right foot. Sometimes the distance between the center console and the gas pedal is small making your right foot hurt. I always like cars where the center console does not touch your leg by default and you have enough distance to lay your foot on the side if you wanted to.

Thanks

thanks,

you mean it bothers your knee because the center console is too close?

Yeah they even sell pads for your right knee that goes on the center counsel/trans tunnel. I'm sure they got all that worked out on the 22's.

I think it depends on how tall you are. I've never had an issue with it.

I am 5' 9"

I test drove an older mazda x9 one time and the center console was so wide. By the time I finished the test drive my right knee and leg was hurting. It was not designed proportional to the gas pedal and seat. If you know what I mean. I find German cars pay more attention to the seating details than anyone else.

Any experience for the brz like this?

I'm 5'7" and have driven as much as 18 hours in a day with no issue, but I think it's probably an individual fit thing.

5'11"-6' /160 lbs here. No issues for me at all. Plenty of people on this forum at 6'-6'-3" / 180-220 lbs have said they are comfortable... but not all. My guess is you would be fine, it has never been a real complaint for this car, most deem it to be quite comfortable and daily drivable.

5'11" & 170 lbs and never felt uncomfortable to me. I had a 2013 back when it did not come with a cushioned knee pad on the door speaker/center console and that was a little uncomfortable for my knees in certain positions but when I had my 2016 with the cushioned padding I had absolutely no issues.

this isn't a miata or s2k, you actually have a substantial center console, lots of foot room, no weird humps on the floor, lots of lateral adjustment with your seat, good steering wheel adjustability...unless you are very long legged and/or fat I think the twins are quite comfortable.

I'm 6'1",about 195,and I've never had an issue with it. The only thing I wish is that the car came with a flat bottom steering wheel. I never really understood the point of them until I started to learn how to heel/toe shift. I like to keep the wheel tilted down as far as possible and that makes it kind of difficult to heel/toe because my knee hits the bottom of the steering wheel.

Other than that, you shouldn't have any problems with the seating position.

Im also 5'-7" and my knees dont ever touch the knee pads (or even come close) unless i go really spread eagle or if i pull my seat up (which isnt ideal and starts getting slightly uncomfortable)

Its definately height dependant.

I am 5'10, I find it to be extremely comfortable. I think I do rest my right leg against the center console while driving but don't find it to be in the way. My car is a 6 speed manual.
