Garage Gyms

Show me what you’ve got. After years of being a gym rat, personal trainer and Fitness Manager at 24 Hour Fitness, we have decided to do the garage gym. My wife loves it, and I am surprisingly enjoying it too.

We have:

PRX squat rack with landmine, dip station, spotters
PRX bench
PRX wall mounts
Rogue bar and plates
Rogue bands
Ab hangers
Nuobell 80lb adjustable dumbbells and stand
Keiser M3i

Lifting one of those large plates would put me in traction. But, I have to say, you have one hell of a lot of stuff in that garage. I am most impressed with the organization.

Garage
Once I get into a house and out from under this bridge I have been living under I plan to do a home gym. Tired of paying 350+ a year for gym membership.

No pictures sadly, but by buddy and I invested in a squat rack with plates up to 315, a few kettlebells and a short DB rack only up to 40lbs. But we are also barbell fanatics and it gets all the major muscle groups we need.

So that was our thought too. We were at 24 Hour Fitness paying around $60/month a piece, so that is $1,440, and we didn't use the basketball courts, pool, sauna, hot tub, showers, spin class. We used the weights and the yoga classes. We will make back our money in a few years and never have to worry about gym prices going up too.

There are some similar adjustable dumbbells, but these are some of the best. They probably aren't the most durable because they can't be dropped, but they have many of the features I wanted. They adjust fast. They have a flat end, so I can set them on my legs or shoulders. They add width when adding weights, unlike the Bowflex ones that are always wide, even if lifting 10lbs.

I’d like to do a setup about like yours. I don’t need anything crazy. On top of gym fees and crowds it’s about 15-20 min trip to the gym for me.

I should take a picture of my cousins home gym, it’s nuts for one guy. It takes up 2/3 of his two car garage.

This is a factor for sure. I have a five mile drive, but round trip in traffic is at least 20-30 minutes of drive time. Plus, finding parking. Plus, waiting for equipment. Plus, the wife doesn't like the creeper guys. Plus, the wife doesn't like feeling like a weakling, so she is happier with our new setup. For California weather, it is nice to be "outside" too.
