Flat low profile antenna (non shark fin)
It seems like the shark fin antennas are a popular choice for the ft86 community. But I would prefer something else rather like the GTR antenna shown below

Bump. I would like to change the antenna as well. For those of you who have changed it, what did you replace it with?, how hard was the install? any signal issues post install?

for the beatsonic shark fins you just unscrew the antenna and tape down the shark fin over the base. it's unsightly huge. looks tacky.

Created another post that highlights a lot of the non sharkfin options as well.
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12177 Still not absolutely sold yet.

+1 for either of these ideas; I would like an interior antenna/ alarm with a blinking light; to maybe deter more fools like the bastard who keyed my hood.
Also, short antennas & sharkfins look kinda awkward on the FRS when you zone out to look at the whole car; they draw too much attention & make the profile of the car look taller actually, the stock antenna almost disappears & is hard to notice i.m.o.; either stock, or completely removed for me =P

Me 2......... That GTR antenna SH*TS on the shark fin ones in my opinion but still not sold on them on the 86.... Somehow they suit bmw's etc but just not this car.... Something about the roof line or maybe the fact its just f*kn massive, the shark fin that is not the GTR one, thats acceptable..... I would be happy with a delete altogether....... I had been up until now considering the cusco 2inch antenna.... Ill be watching this thread... ![]() ![]() ![]()

I would like to go delete too if possible. But with that base still there, I figured an aftermarket antenna that goes over it would be more practical rather than removing the inside liner (for most of us).

And PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make it fit the larger BRZ/Nav antenna base.
Ultra low profile, preferably pre-painted. |
