MA86 Annual Skyline Drive Picnic & Cruise (PART 1)

It's our annual Skyline Drive Picnic & Cruise in Shenandoah National Park!
This event by the Mid-Atlantic 86 Club was originally scheduled for May 15 but was rescheduled due to rain. We are now having TWO events on 5/29 and 6/12. Come to one, come to both!

Who: You (but all makes and models are welcome!)
What: Skyline Drive Cruise
Where: Warrenton, VA > Shenandoah National Park > Front Royal, VA
When: Sunday, May 29, 2022 (meet up at 10:00am)

How: Meet at the Exxon west of Warrenton, VA:
18179 Lee Hwy, Amissville, VA 20106

Meet up, get gas and snacks, then drive west on Rt. 211 to enter Shenandoah National Park (Thornton Gap Entrance). Pay the park entrance fee of $30, then head south on Skyline Drive to Big Meadows Campground.

Pit Stop for photos at the Stony Man Mountain Overlook (DO IT FOR THE GRAM)

Arrive at Big Meadows Campground and eat lunch/picnic. After lunch head North on Skyline Drive to Front Royal.

ROUTE DETAILS:

1. 10:00AM-10:15AM Meet at the Exxon west of Warrenton, VA: 18179 Lee Hwy, Amissville, VA 20106. Fill up on gas, use restrooms, get snacks or drinks.

2. 10:30AM Depart Exxon and head west on Rt. 211 to Thornton Gap entrance of Shenandoah National Park. Park entrance fee is $30

3. 11:15AM Arrive at Shenandoah National Park. Upon paying entrance fee, enter the park and head SOUTH on Skyline Drive. Immediately take first exit into PANORAMA for bathroom break and regroup after entrance station to the park.

4. 11:30AM Head South on Skyline Drive and pull off at Stony Man Overlook for group photos.

5. 11:45AM-12:00PM Depart Stony Man Overlook and head SOUTH on Skyline Drive to Big Meadows Campground & Picnic Area.

6. 12:30PM-1:30PM Eat lunch at Big Meadows Picnic area. Bring your own food as the park website states that there will be no food options due to the pandemic.

7. Drive North on Skyline Drive to Front Royal, VA (****ey Ridge Visitor Center). Remainder of cruise is about 1.5 hrs to the north entrance station where there are restrooms.
