18x8.5/9.5 Rota TORQUE 5x100 +40 on Eibach PROKIT springs. 8.5 front, 9.5 rear.

235/40/18 front and 255/35/18 rear.

I have seen one guy do it with the ProKit springs and WheelDude has done the same setup with coilovers, they didnt mention running negative camber, but it doesnt look like it? So I assume I should have no problem running the same setup?

Hi gang - I'm winter wheel/tire shopping for my 2017 BRZ PP and having a hard time figuring the wheels, offset in particular with the Brembos. Planning on staying with stock 17x7.5 size.

Tire Rack online will offer wheels down to 42 offset - won't that hit that Brembos? Also specifically looking at Drag DR-34s that are easy to find in 45 offset (and found a fit here but without Brembos) but sounds like I can get them with 47 offset (or at least DR69s in 47).
Will 45-47 offset work or do I need to stick with 48?

Been digging online but I'm just not that experienced with wheels/offset so appreciate the help!

Seriously, why do you want such a high offset? The lower the offset the more flush you will be, and the more clearance you will have for your brakes. If you are dead set on 17x7.5 wheels, I would suggest for an aggressive fit, +15 and for a conservative fit +30.

17x7.5 +15 will fit like a 17x9 +35 (the top of your tire will tuck with one set of camber bolts)

17x7.5 +30 will fit like a 17x8 +35 (generally this is considered flush)

There are tons of pictures in the wheel gallery of these "fitments"

Thanks for the quick response. Short answer is I like the way stock handles/looks and don't want to mod anything else at this point so was trying to stay close to the stock 17x7.5 +48
But mainly I was going backwards on the offset which was the main issue so a lot more options with a little lower offset.
Thanks!

hello,
I have a sweet deal if I get 235/50R17 on my stock wheels.
Currently it's 215/45R17 on 7.0J and I believe +48mm
Websites seem to suggest it'll fit.
Question is will it really fit and how awkward would it look?
Thanks!

235/50/17s are 6.9% larger diameter than the stock 215/45s. Generally, you only want a difference of +/- 3% compared to stock. I would stick to 215/45 or 225/45 for 17x7 +48 wheels.

Edit: pic. 235/50/17s are big.

Thanks for the advice!
I haven't changed to different sizes, so don't know much about the rule of thumbs. So, I'm assuming with the 6.9% I'd have a high risk of rubbing against the wheel arches?
It may be a stupid question, would anything catastrophic happen if I did go along with 235's? I understand the rubbing as I'm turning wheels as I can picture that, but if I go over a bump at a high speed and then as the vehicles coming down, would all 4 tires rub against the upper side of wheel arches and stop or slow down drastically or cause me to lose control as it's maybe pulling to one side, etc? may have watched too many movies

I hear you.. that you can get a "sweet deal" on those incorrect size tires. How "sweet" is this deal that you would consider tires that are too tall, IMO will look stupid, and in all probability will rub?

The main problem, is the 50 series side wall. It is too tall! You could run a 235/40 or even a 235/45. Which both fit. (though I would highly suggest a wider wheel than a 7" for these sizes)

Like I said before, with a 17x7 +48 wheel - I cannot suggest any other sizes besides 215/45 and 225/45.

On top of what Leonardo already said the gearing and speedometer is going to be way off and it most likely wont even ride well and be sluggish its really not worth it. Stick to stock or get 225/45/17.

In addition to both your valuable responses, I did a bit more digging and decided not to get the tires. It was a really good deal, but what the hell, winter is almost here, I'll stick to my winter tires for the time being. Thanks for the input!

Hey guys! Looking to get Avid1 AV20s 18x8.5 +33 square set up with MPS4S 245/40 18. I plan to lower the car on Eibach Pro Lowering Springs, so about a 1 inch drop. I was told that this setup would not rub, and from the chart it looks like it will fit. This will be my first set of aftermarket wheels and I want to make sure they'll fit and not rub. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

They will fit without rubbing. I would install front camber bolts with the Prokit springs to add a little front camber. (you will get natural rear camber from lowering the car)

215/45/17 Diameter 24.6"
225/40/18 Diameter 25.1" 0.5" inches bigger than OEM - OK 21lbs Tread width - 7.7"
245/35/18 Diameter 24.8" 0.2" inches bigger than OEM - OK 22lbs Tread width - 8.4"
245/40/18 Diameter 25.7" 1.1" inches bigger than OEM - Too big 23lbs Tread width - 8.4"

Since you want the new MPS4S, I would suggest either of these sizes:
225/40/18 Diameter 25.1" 0.5" inches bigger than OEM - OK 21lbs Tread width - 7.7"
245/35/18 Diameter 24.8" 0.2" inches bigger than OEM - OK 22lbs Tread width - 8.4"

The 245/40 will work, and if you already have them that's ok, but they are bigger diameter than needed and weigh an extra pound compared to the 245/35)

Thanks for the help! I haven't bought the tires yet but the reason I was going to go with that tire size was for the look from the setup I saw on a build. If I went with one of those other setups would it change how much it would fill up the wheel gap and comfort of the ride? Also what does the added 1 pound mostly effect?
