DIY B pillar seatbelt trim protector
I got tired of looking at the plastic protective film that comes on the interior b pillar so I started looking into a solution.
Stickerfab sells carbon fiber wrap but I've heard that they can be tricky to install and maybe the adhesion isn't the best. https://www.stickerfab.com/collectio...40800268648559 I also saw these which look better but are expensive. https://www.86worx.com/axis-parts-se...kle-guard.html Instead of shelling out for these two options, I went to Amazon and bought this 3 pack of 8x10 leather repair patch. I figured if this shit is tough and sticky enough to work on a leather couch you sit on, they should have no issue sticking to the plastic trim in the car. This is the set I bought. You get 3 x810 sheets for $14. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09WKD2M9M...t_details&th=1 I peeled off the plastic that came with the car and measured it. 6 x 10. So, I chopped 2 inches off one of the sheets. I cleaned the b pillar for max adhesion and applied the leather patch. Pull back the weather stripping and there's even a very convenient clip that you can use to line up the patch. Put the edge you cut under the weather stripping and smooth it on. Here's a look at the clip that I lined up the bottom of the leather with. And here's what the leather looks like stuck on Another angle... The leather seems quite sticky and it laid nice and flat. $14 and 20 minutes of work. Maybe not the most necessary thing but I don't like seeing interior trim get dinged up so this works. |

Only once have I ever had an issue with that plastic getting marked from the seatbelt, and that was mainly due to having a cg lock in place.

I Thought that was for protection when people are going in/out of the back seat?

Same. Ripped it off as soon as I saw this thread. It came off pretty easily, which tells me it was meant to be removed.
