Is anyone aware of a good search tool for checking Toyota dealer inventory?

Toyota website is wonky - the main dealer inventory search function only gives you the 2020 86 as a search option. Going into the GR86 model page and searching from there only gives you the dealers near a certain zip code and no inventory search... then I'm seeing most dealer websites don't show inbound 86's.

The few dealers that I know for sure have them coming show nothing. I believe inbound cars should be shown regardless of whether anyone has dibs on the car. I went dealer by dealer checking manually and found next to nothing.

The usual car search sites - autotrader, cars.com etc seem to have very spotty results, and anyway nothing remotely close to me.

I guess I have to.. contact them. Dear god my email is about to be ruined.

The configurator for the Southeast Toyota area (FL, GA, TN, NC, SC, AL) is finally up and working.

Apparently we can only pick from Steel, Neptune, bRed and the AT on the Premium (no MT option). The standard model includes both transmissions and adds Pavement as a color.

Don't be so timid about giving out a burner email. It's a $30k purchase and you're worried about spam emails?

I gave my email to a few dealerships, also expecting a lot of spam, and was surprised how little email I got from them.
It's a seller's market now, use the "a hot chick on Tinder doesn't message first" principle

YMMV though.

I own a "vanity domain" for email. Anytime I have a concern I create a new email address to forward to my primary. I rarely give out my primary. If I have a flood of junkmail, the email address gets deleted.

That is epic. If you wanted to, it would be easy to figure out which companies spread your data around the most too.

My spam folder gets 50x as much email traffic as my actual inbox.

Alright some news for NorCal people.

A new wave of allocations hit so a lot of dealers are getting new allocation. Dealerships who went through the effort to preference a build may get that preferenced car.
One dealer I worked with was able to get a preferenced car and I got the slot after someone backed out. So thanks to whoever backed out lol.

Can I ask where at?
I talked to several dealers in CA and they said "sorry, no MT available and we're not taking orders"

I'd like to order a red MT also! but probably just base model

I'm guessing it's a factory restriction. In the Southeast you can't configure a Premium with a MT on the Toyota website. You can a base unit though.

NW Pennsylvania, so a totally different district but any US dealer should be able to click through an order. Whether Toyota does anything with it is the question.

Any order Toyota receives, they bounce against their production plans and if they will be building a car like that, maybe it will become approved and that dealer will get an allocation that matches your order. Every 2.5 weeks or so a new round of allocations comes through, so it's like a raffle drawing every 2 weeks until your ticket is finally pulled well hopefully not like that, more like you're in a steadily dwindling queue.

There is some element of dealer allocation influence to this process - meaning if a dealer has many orders in for a certain car, they may receive more of that model than they would have had they not put through the orders. The sales manager I worked with talked about how a customer putting down a deposit helps by confirming to Toyota that it's not just the dealer putting orders through as a way to fudge numbers. Must be a history of dealers trying to make it look like they have a bunch of interested customers as a means to get extra inventory. So offer to put down a deposit, just be sure it's 100% refundable.
