Wheel Directory: OZ Ultraleggera 17x8.0 +48

Hey all,

Just mounted my tires and wheels last night...

Since this is not meant to be a competition car, but a driver with solid limits, I went with a streetable combo:

17x8.0 +48 OZ Ultraleggeras
OE sized Michelin Pilot Super Sport

I weighed my new setup at 2.9-3.0 pounds lighter per corner versus OE, and yes, that includes TPMS senders.

The wheels grow a half-inch inward and outward versus stock, so they did pop out of the wheel wells about 12mms

I have been actively modifying and buying various wheels and tires (mostly for motor sports applications) for just under 10 years, and i must say i was surprised... The lighter weight was more noticeable than I expected. Of course the tires are markedly better, but that's not at all surprising.

Heres a rough pic right after install. As many of us know, yes, it needs a drop! The ride height and exhaust are next!

Thanks,

Paul

Nice combo.

I'm trying to decide what colour I want my Ultraleggeras in... Gloss black or gunmetal/graphite (on an ultramarine FR-S)

Thanks for the link... I edited the OP. SmugMug works just fine, but I just learned it's hard to get the actual photo URL off an iPad instead of the page URL.

I'll have to ask my friend , he ordered the 2 logo's ( the red R.S logo and the silver Renault Sport logo ) for me.
He's also on the forum here , you probably know him ( Dixie , also with a black 250 )

how do you like those tires? How noisy are they? How is mileage compared to stock.

The set-up has been on the car for exactly 20 hours and 30 miles, so I can't speak to mileage, BUT.... the reason I went with these tires was because I had the exact same tires (except 225s) put on the girlfriend's 2005 Z4 in March, and they have been outstanding. They are the best of 4 different types of tires at a comparable level of performance (max performance / non-competition)

On the Z4, noise is far superior to comparable Bridgestones or Dunlops.

They're comparable in noise to a far softer Hankook (tread wear 240 vs 300), but the Michelins wear FAR slower and more evenly. Sure, the RSs are stickier in max dry conditions, but they're useless in the rain (relatively) and will heat cycle out of life faster.

If your car is a driver, I'd take the Michelins with no hesitation. Best of all worlds at a fair price.

As requested:

I will take more serious ones with a real camera once I get the stance right, etc., but until then...
