Are Gen1 TPMSs working on Gen2 cars ?
Hı all,
I have a set of 2018 BRZ tS (STi) wheels with OEM sensors and installed that on my 2024 GR86 Trueno. The STİ wheels where successfully used on my previous 2019 BRZ (including last summer). I am using the Autel TS 508 which never had an issue when changing the summer/winter sets. This time I used GT86 or BRZ on the settings and the sensors got triggered. Connected to OBD it says successful. Drove 10 min but dash alert remains. Updated the tool and got the 2024 GR86 or BRZ and selected those but no luck! It even does not trigger the sensors with those settings. Got stuck with the dash alert and no tpms readings on the screen. Not a big problem but would like to use the feature. Any recommendations? I haven't personally tried this way, but the reverse didn't work (gen2 sensors on a gen1 car).
It seems like they use different protocols (gen2 being more advanced), so I wouldn't expect full support of gen1 sensors, if at all.

Could be! If U am not wrong bot are 315Mhz but as you said their protocols could be different. Searched but the only difference I found was the tpms types listed below https://www.toyotatpms.com/toyota-tpms-types-fitment Until 2020 it’s mentioned “Pacific” type. After that it’s called “Pacific FAT” type TPMS What that means ? No idea! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

They are different protocols, you will not be able to get them to work.
