Did toyota cover the issue or wanted you to pay for the fix?

They wouldn’t return emails. I spent 11k out of pocket to do it right. I had a bulletproof motor built by a master of the FA20. Even if Toyota offered to fix it i wouldn't let those morons touch my car again

Wait, did you seriously try to handle this through email, or did you really just decide not to bother?

I was wondering the same thing. My job offers us a program for legal services, so if anything is wrong, I will be contacting them and lawyers would be involved before I ever spend 11k on replacing the engine that they destroyed. Even if I was planning on switching it in the long run. Its the point. If they break it, they need to fix it.

You spent what the car was worth on the engine. Car insurance would have totaled the car if it was an accident or something. If you were planning on building the car anyways, you might have been able to get them to pay for a new engine which you could sell.

The car is sorted nicely for the track and I had no interest in dealing with Toyota and spend a bunch of time to potentially get nowhere.

Glad it worked out for you. The 11k would have killed me since Covid hit.

Fix it wrong again and get stranded 7 hours from home again? And wait forever and spend money on an attorney? No thanks. The bill would have been 8k But went with all new IAG short block With and also replaced the oil cooler and some other goodies. Car is amazing now and for me it was worth it.
