Tein Flex Z Help
Hey everyone, I recently installed my Tein Flex Z coilovers and noticed the rears were still pretty high up even when fully maxed out. I'm pretty sure these were supposed to drop 3 inches in the back and I don't think I'm near that. There is still a lot of thread left, but it wont lower anymore. I took the bottom cups out and threaded them as much as they went just to be sure. I've been searching for an answer but couldn't find anything. Has anyone else had this problem?

I don't have this problem. My setup before is drop 1.3 front and 1.3 rear, and i barely put one finger between my wheel gap. Even I use Tein recommended setup now is still smaller gap than yours. (0.8 front and 0.7 rear).

That's weird. What's your wheel/tire setup?

Are you trying to lower it? Your perches are set higher up.

Yes I'm trying to lower it a lot more. I never touched the spring perches I just left it factory spec. Wouldn't altering the perches increase/decrease preload?

If the threads are maxed out, next thing would be rear LCAs. The slight tire stretch makes the gap more noticeable as well.

So it's normal to be this high even when maxed out? I was under the impression that maxed out would be when all the perches were touching, since I have so much thread left.

Yeah my rears are about a 2 finger as well. Just wondering, how much lower are you able to go?

Maxed out the front (removed the locking rings), and maxed out the rear plus using some pre-load adjustment.

Yeah thats pretty much the same set up as me so idk what went wrong. Here's some more photo's because that angle and ground not being even might of made things look worse. Rears are completely maxed out and fronts are perfect because they have some more room to go lower. Only looking for another 1/2 for the rears.

Have you considered contacting Tein USA about this?
If the shock body is bottoming out in the lower bracket, they made a design change in production that has obviously impacted the advertised specs. My Ohlins from 2013 were a similar situation, I suspect they used parts from another platform to reduce some manufacturing costs. -alex |
