can you clarify what you mean when they eventually require a rebuild? is this based on miles or years, or based on maintenance of how hard i drive the car??

thanks for answering btw, i understand noobs such as i can be annoying on forums.
92 is fine, remember that it is essentially an anti-knock rating, so the less octane, the less timing/boost you can run and keep the motor from knocking. The Subaru ECU has some fairly modern anti-knock mitigation code in it that helps keep your car safe. Turbo rebuild intervals can have a lot of factors such as the manufacturer of the turbo, design of the turbo kit and what oil you use, what psi the oil flows through the turbo, how well the drain line is setup, what temps the oil is run at, and how well you are filtering the air entering the turbo. Superchargers are generally just oil filled, so there is less too worry about other than doing the scheduled oil changes on them although the Rotrex kits do cool the supercharger oil. The seals and bearings still wear in them though, so they also will require maintenance/rebuilds. I haven't researched what Vortech or Rotrex's expected intervals are for that.

thank you, very informative and i didnt think about pipe lines and oils, i was just assuming running a turbo or super would kill my engine, period.

ill ask the local (the only) car shop near me to see what they think as well. I also asked because they are listed as a certified dealer for greddy so i figured i may as well look into their product :P

but thanks again, very helpful my friend :]

There seems to be an upgrade to GREDDY T620Z for the T518Z users in japan....

It's kind of nice that Greddy teamed up with Garrett. I think they make some good turbos. I'm currently using the GTX2867R and she purrs

The T518z is capable of 14PSI with the current actuator installed. If you have the time to upgrade the actuator on the T518z it should be capable of around 18PSI. This was information I received from Andrew at Greddy USA.

The link below is the actuator someone can use on the T518z. However, some modification will be required.

Road tuning with Tactrix, dialling in around 9psi at the moment. Happy to share my (incomplete) ROM with anyone. I used Shiv's SBD ROM as a base guide to timing, fuelling, AVCS. Have found a couple of areas (3200-3600, 4800-5600) where the T518Z system needs less cam overlap than SBD system.

Would be interested to see what others are running on their cams.

My current results. Better numbers on the way soon.

I'm still having issues with my grimmspeed MBC. Boost peaked at 13.8psi and quickly started falling from as low at 9.5psi by redline. I am tuned for 15, so I will be going with a ebc solenoid, and having delicious tuning rework my tune to let the ecu control boost. Also, the wastegate actuator when preloaded correctly allows for about 10psi stock. It comes with a very loose preload. I should make a good bit more with boost hitting and holding 15psi to redline. I am using delicious tuning's flash & go e-tune.

I had trouble keeping mine under 18psi with an ebcs! With the ebcs installed we had to tune it down 3-4 times to get to a steady 15psi. The actuators come with a very loose preload from greddy. Preload them properly and your making a good 9.5-10psi on the actuator alone.

Interesting. Well, that's good to hear you were able to make those numbers without any major modifications. Thanks for sharing!
