@FRS_Ken since you brought up stickers, I have been thinking about out our club logo and its' plain design... I wonder... is it time for a new design for our Ft86club Ottawa logo yet?

Picked up a set of Hawk HP+ Brake pads from @Slick this morning.
Checked out the new tires and rims in the shop and chatted about Norm's sweet diffuser plans.

That's all for now (Andre will also install the OpenFlash Header when I bring my car in). I'll need a new set of brake pads and tires mid-season (probably Direzza ZII Star Specs).

The splitter adds ~60 lbs of downforce on the front at 160kph. The diffuser provides a 19 lb decrease in drag at 160kph and a lift decrease of 108 lbs. I'm hoping I won't have to lift for turn 1, and lift less in turn 16 (4 Left). My best last year was a 2:31.33.

That's a little over 5hp. Not too shabby for something that also looks cool.

Probably 2 secs per lap, maybe 3 with a wing.
There are a few corners that could benefit from some good aero, namely T1 and T16 (4Left going into quarry).

The S2000 guys are seeing good gains with aero and can run in the low 2:20's.

Brought in some rims and tires to get mounted yesterday at Slick's. No surprise Andre was very cautious not to damage the rims and his attention to detail is second to none. Thanks again, Andre!

Spotted a black FRS on steelies at the Starbucks in front of Ikea today at around 2:30PM.

So I started my ARP stud install today. It all went well in the front but when I got to the rear things got a bit more complicated. I was surprised to see that the parking brake shoes are fitted inside the rotor like old drum brakes. Kinda retro-ghetto. It's the first time I encounter such a system since servicing the drum brakes on my Acura 1.6EL. So OK I can work with that and off comes the parking brake assembly pieces.

Once the parking brake hardware is removed I discover that I still can't get the long studs inserted because the heat shield is in the way (and actually form a housing for the parking brake shoes). So the obvious remedy is to remove the heat shield. A quick inspection shows that 4 bolts hold the heat shield sandwiched between the hub assembly and the knuckle. Upon reflection I conclude I may as well remove the hub rather than the heat shield. However the hub is also held in place with a large nut which has a "washer" crimped into a side slot to hold it in place rather than a castle nut and cotter pin. So my project is stalled until I can obtain a large enough socket to remove the nut and then work on extracting the OEM studs and installing the new ones with the hub off the car. Oh the joys of shade tree mechanics...
