Sounds familiar to my standard answer to someone who says they really love their job. I say, "OK, so let me ask. If your basic needs were met as if it were mana from heaven, and you could spend your days doing the things you love, are you saying you would get out of bed in the morning and go do <name the job here>".

Some people would. My son the musician who has figured out how to make a living in the music industry would. My wife, who works with school age children with disabilities probably would. I, on the other hand, would not, and I do not believe most people would.

I took it as if we lived in a world where you got paid the same amount of "money" whether you worked or not, would you still do your job?

For me, I would say absolutely. It would be even better if some of the folks I work with/for/adjacent to decided to stop working because of it lol.

If I was still allowed shop access for personal use, maybe.

If that's a reason other than money, I'm sure that's valid.

That it isn't just this forum where someone asks a question, someone else answers it, a bunch of other members ignore the answer and post a bunch of terrible advice, and then the OP restates the answer that was in the 2nd or 3rd reply like they figured it out themselves.

Today I learned that 98% of new cars registered 20 years ago aren't on the roads now (UK specific).

Today I learned that I really might have to replace the FRS battery in the near future...

And that out if 3 cars, I only have 1 that can actually take me somewhere right now...
