Toyota GR 86 Test Mule Spotted

Hmmm.... Auto Blog has some photos. Now, is it a test mule for 2nd gen running gear or 2021 pre production unit?
Let the games begin!

Interesting vents in the front fenders behind the wheels, eh?

Here we go!

Very interesting though. I'm intrigued by the combo of 86 headlights with the BRZ badges.

This is total speculation, but the bulges on the fender look similar in size to those on the new S209, particulary how they protrude.

Interested to see where this goes!

exhaust tips look much better, looks like the whole front end is a different design. Different quarter panels, headlights, bumper. The profile of the bumper does look cool.

Is it me or does the wheel base look slightly longer?

Also there is some sort of bump on the trunk or rear glass, is that for testing or apart of the design?

Also I want to chime in that the original FRS still has the best looking bumper, this new version with those funky lower tooth looking bottom lip is not a good looking design.

i think its a test mule for the 2nd gen 86. for example cars like the LC and Zupr4 started life as a new chassis over a moded GS and 2 series shell.

I assume they'll be as fake as the Zupra's.

It'll be interesting to see I guess.

I still can't see the brake pads. Not worth the upgrade.

Gonna go find the thread but pretty sure those pictures are about two years old. They were not "just spotted" and likely have zero to do with the next generation.

OK so this is the thread. https://www.carscoops.com/2018/09/ba...-updates-ring/ Not the same car.
That is just a plain old 17+ 86 front end under that camo though.

This is a modified 17+ 86 bumper. Those two side sections would be nice if they were functional vents like brake ducts or something.

I agree, the exhaust tips look very cool. Quarter panels look different so maybe this is a mixture of 1st and 2nd gen?
And I *think* it looks like a longer wheelbase because of the camo playing tricks. But that could be a change for the 2nd gen also. I want to know which motor it will have!!
