small car
better built than the Vega can house a small block ford, which can make for interested cheater machines since you can wedge a bored and cranked over 331 cid c4 and 9 inch otherwise its got potential as a small zippy machine Id like to see another duratec 2.5 swapped one with the 5 speed from a NC miata. i think it would be fun. smaller brother to the mustang but sorta the same in a sense. not sure on actual sizing. ive been tempted to look into getting one but with my size fitting in small cars these days is less and less appealing. unless its a 190e cause germans build cars for guys like me https://www.drivingline.com/articles...ford-maverick/ under appreciated with the datsun car movement but they are still relatively cheap to come by |

I never drove one (legally anyway) but my favorite Uncle had one that he let me drive on our dirt road. He drove it for about 200,000 miles as I recall until someone ran into him and (really) totaled it.
In the end its the 70's equivalent of a basic econo-car. Nothing awful but nothing special either. (ADDED: Of course it is very upgradeable so it could make a project sleeper car) It looked exactly like this one found randomly on the Internet

Following up on @Dadhawk
they are the late 70s into 80s econoboxes but also highly upgradable. Like the Dart/Duster/ X chassis Nova they are starting to creep up on price cause they are somewhat desirable in the right fit. Sung Kang made one for the reason of being ford backed with his students. But it really sorta gave the mav a boost in hype it needed. So the follow up question is... what has you looking at Mavericks? |

Now that's HIGHLY debatable and not comparable. The Maverick was bigger/heavier car being based on the 1960 Ford Falcon chassis. Plus, it came with an in-line 6! The Pinto was Ford's answer to the Vega and we've already relived it's "explosive" career.
