A couple weeks ago, I decided for the sake of mental health to sneak in a track day at The Ridge before our dog's second knee surgery. Last time I drove out here was two years ago in a Chump car and I quickly learned just how much there is to forget. After the first couple sessions I started to remember the sight lines and landmarks I'd learned a few years ago with The Ridge Racing School and by the afternoon I was able add speed and started taking video. With a clear track, I was able to hit 2:17's and 2:18's fairly consistently and before I turned on the camera, Harry's said I managed a 2:16.90 that I'm a bit skeptical of.

The link at the top is the best lap I have video of, 2:17.40. Hopefully later this year I'll be able to head back out there and get an instructor to ride with me (paging @rice_classic) so I can start trimming the fat.

I WISH. Unfortunately, a 4 digit vet bill has ransacked my fun budget for the next couple months. I'll have to settle for youtube videos and wishful thinking for the near future.

The owner of that GTR (shown below) is one of my Chump partners who is prepping for One Lap. Leah is really cool about showing up at events and hanging with us mortals. There is a video with Mike Skeen driving a stock FRS at VIR.

Great driving! What's up with that Mustang though? Is he a V6 or otherwise detuned? A bit shocked he doesn't pull on you at all on the straights and I know you aren't making much more power than stock if at all since your top speed is only a tiny bit higher than mine.

Notes/Comments: This was the cars first track day. Had a few duels with a civic type r w a k20 swap and an ITR. Ohhh, almost got run over by a mclaren and a porsche gt2 who got a it too much into it.

The mustang has the following


~3400 lbs.
4.6 liter V8 (~350hp @ 5700 RPM, ~340 ft-lbs @ 4500 RPM)
Steeda racing wing and front splitter
Upgraded locking differentials and rear end gear ratios
Ford Racing performance clutch
Ford Racing handling kit (springs, struts and sway bars)
Short throw shifter
Ford Racing performance kit (cold air intake and ECU)
Stoptech 4 piston big brake kit
18″ lightweight racing rims shod in high performance rubber


I agree tho, the mustang did seem to have some issues, he approached me after the race and said he was low on power which would explain it.


As for my car, your right. All I have is Exhaust and Intake believe it or not, along side with aero mods + suspension and brakes.

Figure I'll contribute. I was at Shannonville Motorsports Park for a club lapping day today. Turn out was fairly small so I got lots of flying laps in. My best lap of the day on video:

About my car:
HKS Hipermax 4 GT coilovers 6k front 4k rear. -2.2f, -1.7r.
RR Racing Sport Performance front BBK with OEM rears. BP10 pads front, and EBC Yellowstuff rear.
17x8 +35 Phatfux Ballzy running 245/40 original BFG Rival tires.
Car is otherwise completely stock.

A side note: I broke a front swaybar end link early in the event so by this time, the swaybar is basically non-functional. Front end was quite loose compared to my first few laps before I broke it. I need to investigate getting new end links now.
