That said I would not want this powertrain in my BRZ. I love the engine in the BRZ and holding on to a gear at part throttle and letting the revs climb is just fantastic.

Thanks a lot for bringing that to my attention. Filed a copyright infringement notification with YouTube, it should be taken down soon. Sad to say I see this fairly often on my videos.

Been reading ur stuff for a while brah... Gotta tell u my opinion and insight says u want more power plain and simply... U have not been satisfied with the stock form... Reaching the power band is too much work for u... U haven't found an exhaust u like... Aftermarket, ready available, r&d turbos/superchargers are a couple of years away... Just get the mustang and complain on their forums about "how u had a BRZ and u weren't satisfied"... Im sure a lot of them will understand... Its all about the power, plain and simple... Heres some advise... Know who u are and know what u want... It will make life a lot more easy... Glad u "tried" the BRZ, but reading all ur stuff, it aint for u...

I drive an SX4 (150hp/150tq 2880 lbs) daily which is tall, has a bus driver-like upright seating position, and is a fun/adventurous car. When I sink down into the BRZ, there is a more serious, performance-oriented tone. I get pushed into my seat with appreciably more "oomph" compared to my SX4. The engine has its share of signature, unrefined noises. I feel like I'm piloting a spacecraft that was hacked together in a crafty engineer's underground lab. The shifter vibrates like my G35 did (which I sold last year for my SX4). The stiff suspension is jarring yet occasionally demonstrates a floaty softness over certain surfaces. And it has some '90s/early 2000s Toyota sports car character. Every time I drive my BRZ is a special event. A car is a machine and has no soul. Associating a character to a car is subjectively based on how you were brought up. I was raised on Toyota sports cars from the '80s, '90s, and 2000s so my mind references those cars when I characterize the BRZ. You seem to have more European/American cars in your thought process. Perhaps your mind fails to see character in the BRZ because certain psychological filters prevent you from seeing it. If I still had my G35, my perspective on the BRZ would be drastically different. I'd be unhappy with both cars, wanting the G to handle like a scalpel and the BRZ to thrust me forward at every stab of the throttle. The character of your Legacy resides in your mind, fresh and constant. It's subliminally affecting your view of the BRZ. Either sell the Legacy for something with less oomph or carefully mod the BRZ (but getting it to a respectable power level reliably may be tough to do per Max Schnell's account). Or just get the Mustang. It seems to have the performance/character combination you're looking for out of the box.

Hey Subaruwrxfan,
Just checking in to see what your thoughts are now. I know last time you liked the car but did not love it. Please disregard some of the recent rubbish postings from some trolls.

You might be able to delete it, or swap trunks with a premium car, I personally love it.

Also, just passed 4,000 miles on the BRZ tonight. It continues to grow on me. I really am starting to appreciate it's sharpness more, particularly in the stiff brake feel and firm suspension. I still continue to LOVE these seats, that's one thing that Subaru/Toyota got absolutely right, these seats are marvelous. Took an 8 hour road trip in the car today, never felt uncomfortable in them. In regards to the power issues, I have started to change my driving style to play the cars strengths more and minimize it's low points in the powerband (i.e. I avoid 4k-5k). I would like to do the retune that Perrin is offering and the supercharger but I'm worried about them voiding my warranty so I probably won't do much beyond full exhaust/headers and intake this year.
Anybody have anything they want to see a video of, I'm out of ideas, lol.

Replacing the exhaust manifold and intake will both lead to the denial of a warranty claim. Nothing technically voids your warranty, but your warranty claims can be denied if you've replaced certain parts. If the engine pops and you're running aftermarket manifolds and an intake, you better believe the dealership and Subaru won't have a problem denying that claim. |

Haven't tracked it yet, don't have too many opportunities to get some track time, but it's something I'd like to do in the future.

Intake and manifold both alter AFR properties and add power, thus making it more likely to deny a warranty claim. Again, nothing voids your warranty, only claims can be denied. |
