quieter exhaust after stage 2 tune
Hi, group. I'm sure there are other threads out there on this topic, but got the stage 2 tune with UEL OFT catless headers and over pipe with stock mid pipe, (have a tanabe catless midpipe to, but had fitment issues), with the spec D catback. So basically very loud now. What good dual exhausts are out there that will tone down the raspiness and loud level to take advantage of the subaru rumble the headers are now creating.

Invidia Q300 and CSG touring exhausts are supposedly pretty quiet.

Even with the muffled version, your setup will still be quite loud.

Perrin or Milltek resonated systems are good options too

The key is the front pipe. A catted front pipe, especially the stock front pipe will help keep things quieter. A good resonator in the mid pipe of course helps as well.
I'm running a catless JDL UEL header, and a Nameless muffled track pipe, which is a single exit axleback with a short muffler. With the stock front pipe and stock mid pipe it's not too bad at all. It's quiet when I want, and makes a good amount of noise when I want it to. |

GReddy Supreme SP is a really quiet catback. Also, I don't know what version of OFT tune you're running, but I've heard a lot of people say once they switched to the new V4.03 tunes, their cars became noticeably quieter under load

Thermal R&D catback is very civilized with the stock front pipe, and as someone said that is the key to keeping it tame. The helmholtz chamber in the Thermal exhaust keeps the car from droning.

For what it's worth, my exhaust was a Tanabe catless UEL and over pipe, catless Tanabe front pipe, then a Tanabe concept G single exit cat back, so basically the only thing between the motor and the tailpipe was one resonator and one straight through muffler. My first step to making things quieter was to install a magnaflow catted and resonated front pipe, which didn't do a whole lot for WOT, but it really made a difference at low to part throttle. I can now drive through my neighborhood with a good conscience as long as I keep it below 2500 rpm.
I had contemplated doing a full custom cat back using the biggest offset in/dual out muffler I could find (dynomax 17577), but for a street driven daily driver I'm going the cheap and easy route and putting a stock cat back on. In my experience with mufflers, size matters - bigger, in general, means quieter. |

I'm running version 4.03 off the OFT. and it does seem to be quieter then stock. When I was running stage 1 before the header install, the tune really was noticeablly quieter. I've decided to leave the stock front pipe on and put the mid pipe up for sale.

So Thermal R&D does a good job getting rid of the drone?? Sounds like my route i'm headed towards, That with the stock front pipe i hope it makes a good combo to offset the catless headers. And I'm all for as loud as possible, but the wife made it clear, it needs to get quieter.
