Satin White Pearl paint durability?

I am going to buy one of the twins in the fall when my BMW lease is up.I am leaning towards the FR-S, but it could still be the BRZ and I think I will get better info on this side of the forum since it likely has people more familiar with Subaru in general.

My intention is to buy one and keep it a long time, as I have with my 1997 Miata. (Still have it, original owner.) I had decided on white because 1) it looks good and 2) it would be a nod towards my long lost white 1982 Supra, one of my favorite cars of my past.

I see reports that Subaru white paint yellows with age. Can anyone shed some light on that and whether Satin White Pearl/Whiteout is a shade that is affected? I hope it is the non-metallic whites but if SWP is going to yellow over time I am going to stay away from it.

if this worries you, you could always do opticoating which is what i have and it will prevent UV damage. But ive had other subarus with the same satin white pearl and never had any faded what so ever. Actually my 2008 alpine white BMW faded within a few years! I think you eluded to it already in that the satin white pearl which didnt fade was metallic and the alpine white isnt. I think youd need to leave your car out in arizona every sunny day for many years to see the effects of UV damage...i think you should be okay!

Can you tell me more about opticoating? Never heard of it.

http://www.autogeek.net/optimum-opti-coat.html here is a good website that tells about it. If you look in the forum here you should be able to find people in your area who can do it professionally which i recommend since most of the time the paint needs correction since the opticoat basically seals in whatever condition your paint is in but if you can do that stuff you can buy all the stuff to do it yourself. From what i understand it last pretty much the entire lifetime of the car (realistic life-time) and is a permanent hydrophobic covering. I was pretty skeptical but after having it for around 6 months it has been amazing, especially in the winter. I believe in "cosmetic maintenance" section there is alot more info on it

this is accurate, hence why my italia 458 which started out as mostly Al and, through proton degeneration, its body is mostly volatile Hydrogen (g)...everything else stated above is preliminary and has thus far not been shown with any conclusively.
