Make a removable cover so it only cools on the track. I did on mine and it runs like standard until it`s uncovered. Apart from a slightly longer oil warm up.

Wrapped my mirrors today.

Used Vivid Carbon Fiber with texture. Left over from my previous car. Figured I’d use it up before I get some more. I’m not a pro but I’m happy with it for the most part. A few wrinkles but only on the tight corner towards the window. I’ll redo it once I get some more from Amazon. Took a few hours haha. But hey, it beats paying someone to do it! And just in the one for Portland Super Subie Stancewars!

Looks good. Prepare to not be able to turn to full lock without rubbing on the inside of the fender well.

Thank you for linking this series. Was looking for similar assembly/disassembly videos. This one never came up in the search.

Yea my friend at autocross suggested that. I'll block the entire thing in the winter, and maybe make a cover with a smaller opening for the summer based on my needs.

Will 255s rub on those wheel specs?

(I'm assuming they need small spacers then?)

Completed my first SCCA TT event. I ran one before but the car didn't survive. Learned a lot. Ended up running Max3 since there where no other cars in Max4 and got 3rd, though a long way back from 1st and 2nd in class, a Cayman and a turbo SW20. Had a lot of fun and was going back and forth with an M3 in my class all weekend until his SMG pump failed. Still having cooling issues even with Koyorad. Oil temps look okay so

Car looks great, loving that driveway labs hood vent.

What are those little silver things on top of your splitter?

Thanks.

I had an off last year and messed up the splitter. So I flipped it over and drilled out the brace in the front to take more fasteners. I also added another brace in the rear to support it better. The silver things are the bolt heads. This one is on it's last legs, I will probably build something much sturdier for next year this winter.

Looks great! I've been preparing to wrap my other car and watching videos to learn before I dive in. There is actually a tool to assist with stretching over the mirror. Quite pricey for one use. I wouldn't have even noticed it you didn't mention it.

Hey I appreciate the kind words man, really. I bought a little kit, heat gun, knife with extra blades, a plastic spatula thing and a wand thingy that helps get over lips and into cracks, but I really just use the heat gun and the knife. The spatula thing is useful for flat surfaces but over bumps and stuff it’s hard to get the bubbles and wrinkles to disappear.

Honestly my last car, the mirrors were easier but seemed like they would be harder. I think I was a bit too much in a hurry and running out of vinyl. So I rushed it. It’s not very noticeable, of course I know it’s there and that’s the worst part haha. But I’m gonna order some more, and I’ll redo both mirrors. probably 3M this time because I hear great things about them versus Vivid. I just need to find 3Ms version of texture exterior carbon fiber. But for now it will do.

Tomorrow I’m gonna wrap my gas door after work. I have a little material left. Enough for the door.

I did just like you say, watched a bunch of videos, can’t remember the guys name but he has a vinyl shop and all of his videos are very informative. He shows techniques and explains how to fix mistakes, obviously he makes it look much easier than it really is.

People say it’s easier to wrap a part connected to the car, but I tried and wasted many feet haha. Resorted to pulling the mirror covers off and doing it the hard way I suppose. Too afraid to break something or scratch the paint when trimming. I’ll get better, just like everything, good things take time. My last mirrors were spot on, so I know I can do better.

Obviously I’m gonna have to leave the gas door on this time due to the fact that it is riveted
I will take pictures and report back!

They should rub when turned full lock. But that may be camber dependent. My race setup is 17x9 +40 wheels with 255/40 tires and -3.8 camber. It rubs on the inside at full lock. I just don't turn full lock when running the big meats.

Spacers would help, though I'm not sure how thick you could go before running into issues with rubbing on the outside fender.
