If the boost is holding at the higher rpms it should be a win. When I'm around 7k the boost goes down to about 1.5 psi and there really isn't a lot of top end. If you're above 4 psi at 7k it should make a pretty big difference.
Are you running the proceed controller where you can adjust the ESC motor with the RPMs? If so maybe change it where the motors ramp up a little slower and aren't at 100% until you are at 4kish. I would think the stock ESC tune could handle that because you really shouldn't be hitting over 5-6 psi of boost. |

I don't have the proceed controller. Which I'm kinda ok with since the hit almost feels like a shot of NOS I do have it set to go off at 90% throttle so when I go full throttle it comes on right around 3500. Here's a question though should I keep the intercooler on? Would the colder air despite losing a lil bit of boost produce more power than having it off and making that extra boost?

You will need to find out the intake temp and see how high it is. I wouldn't think it would be needed but it's hard to say without knowing the temp. You could always try it for a day with it and then without it and see how it feels.

If on pump gas it might be beneficial for the track. But if just Hwy pulls / back roads / canyons I don’t think it’s needed. IAT temp is taken from the MAF which you have post blowers, so it should be pretty easy to test before and after temps with OFT doing a pull of each. Also how much boost the intercooler drops will factor in. If it’s dropping temps from 20 above ambient to 5 above (15f drop) but at the expense of 1.5psi definitely not worth it. 20F to 1psi would be a decent compromise. But again with E85 not needed. Really 7-9psi is the “cross over” where an intercooler starts to really be beneficial, but that’s with a traditional FI which typically run a lot hotter then an ESC would. Also intercoolers are sized and rated to match the flow rate of your FI system, a too large of cooler will just create unnecessary pressure drop. |

My personal experience with custom OFT tune with OFP from about 2 yrs ago it took 3+ weeks per revision after sending logs. My NA tune took almost 6 months needed 7 revisions. Several other forum members with more recent tunes had same experience. Steve99 and Wayno also do custom OFT tunes. At least you already have the base ESC tune so it’s probably a few minor adjustments and might only take 1-2 revisions to dial in.

If you did want to add in an intercooler i would use one of these. Almost no psi drop and still very effective at reducing temps. This would most likely be a total net HP gain, and prevent heat soak in tougher conditions. http://www.frozenboost.com/?searchstring=Long+flow. You would need a water pump, reservoir, and radiator. For pump Use a tap a fuse to an on switch source for hot wire (several options in cabin fuse box) and ground to chassis or negative battery. Lots of places to mount the reservoir, and mount a small radiator where your intercooler is now, or get a chase bay windshield washer reservoir to relocate windshield washer reservoir and put the radiator behind driver fog light. That’s what i did for my trans cooler works great. Would be a cool little project to finalize this dual ESC project of yours. |

Does anyone here know how I update my OFT to the flex fuel template so that it can read the ethenol content off my flex fuel kit?
