Nope I don't mind either. It does look Macoish but the manufacturer did it for whatever reason. It is a feature of the special edition and they didn't lie when they said they were making them in orange and white.
Like I said way back at the start I would run with it as a talking point at meets or such not be ashamed.
Would be all like " Speaking of weird thing they do when they build cars come take a look at THIS"

Yeah. Not exactly a unicorn but pretty damn close. I know people scoff at the "collectibility" aspect of the 86 but I'd keep that thing bone stock forever.

Should be able to get them cheap since obviously nobody else will want them with the custom overspray package.

Restorer's nightmare, just think about the poor bloke in the paint shop in 2037 trying to match the white engine bay and the bijou orange highlights to get that authentic 2017 factory finish.

And think about the pinstriped suited "expert" getting all hot and bothered that the restoration is not to factory standard because the lack of over spray behind the car battery..

I'm pretty sure the FR-S RS 2.0 in that khaki color, as well as the BRZ Series Hyper.Blue had this issue with the special color paint.

It seems Subaru just likes to cheap out and use as little paint as possible.

Was about to say the same exact thing when I read this.

Lmao "special edition"

Get the car in a special color, except the chassis itself is still white I can't believe that car costs nearly $4,000 extra over a standard 86. Such a joke

That extra cost goes into getting the over spray just right, it's a skill don't you know?

I have the RS 2.0 and it is a similar situation. When you pop the hood it is not the same color as the rest of the car. It is a flat gray with hints of overspray. The overspray does not stand out as much since it is not such a bold color change.

And the stripes are not even painted on they are just stickers. Be about $100 at anyplace that does wraps.

Is that over-spray that I see in the engine compartment?

If you have a good look under the dash/firewall inside the car, what color is it under there?

I dislike it not on the grounds that it looks unappealing, but rather that it makes people think that it was resprayed.

Ermm...... it was re-sprayed... I think we need to start a new thread where the owners of such cars can show their engine bays. This will help to legitimatise what at the moment sounds really dodgy..
