Question TOYOTA 86 Bonnet Hood Gas Strut

Does anyone know any Bonnet Gas strut that are cheaper than $63 or compatible versions for the FRS / Toyota 86?

Like this one on Ebay:

63 AUD is like under 48 USD... Not calling you cheap, but come on :p I don't think you'll find, or want, a cheaper product than that

Gas Strut Limitation

If you plan on doing your own wrenching you might want to reconsider installing gas struts. You will loose the ability that the stock support has of moving to the second position and holding the hood (bonnet) in an almost vertical position. Makes for very easy access to the engine bay.

Just my 2 cents.

Yes very true, and back when we were working on this project we found that kits like the one OP listed actually open the hood less than the stock position for the hood prop. So when we designed our kit we made sure our opening position was significantly higher:

Good luck to you though OP, as I couldn't build a decent kit at cost in my garage for that price.

I have the Grimmspeed ones and can vouch for how wide it opens the hood. Makes working underneath there very easy. A bit out of your price range but they are good value

Another vote for Grimmspeed here.....some things you might be able to get out cheap on but this is not one I would want to go cheap on

I have the opposite thought. The stock support runs right the middle of everything and gets in the way tremendously imo. And like mentioned the GS raise the hood higher then the first position, not sure about the second but it is plenty of clearance. Need anything more and it would be time to just take the hood off
