Building a BRZ in 1/24 Scale
OK so I have been promising a model build thread for a couple of years.
So here it is. The car I will be building is @xxatsayxx 's BRZ as he was the "lucky" winner at the NorCal summer kickoff raffle. I lucked out in that he only has some light mods that should be reasonably easy to scratch build. I will break each section of the car out into separate sections for anybody that wants to use this as a reference for their own build so be sure to check for updates. Everything that I show will apply to the FRS/86 kit as like the two cars, the kits are pretty much identical. CAUTION: This will take months until it is done! You could probably do the actual thing faster and some of the time will be spent waiting for parts to arrive just like real life. The Kit There are several kits out there by different manufactures but Tamiya and Aoshima are the best two. They allow you to build a pre facelift (zenal vskooky or whatever the weeboo's call them) FRS/86/BRZ in either RHD or LHD and you can even get RB versions. Thanks to monkeybike's superior search skills anybody looking for a 17+ 86 can get one as Aoshima Kit # - AOS05180 or # - AOS05179 is the base model with no wing and aftermarket wheels I prefer the Aoshima kit since it has a pile of extras over the others including a full engine and drive train, masks for the windows and better overall detail. These things are truly a miniature version of the car not just a tub and body like old car models. Because I am lazy I will let somebody else explain the break down of the kit http://automodeler.kitmaker.net/modu...ontent&id=9860

Reserved for suspension and wheels
Volks wheels were requested. Getting brand name wheels in the right scale can be an adventure. You will find the perfect thing just to discover they are discontinued or cost as much (in scale) as the real thing. They can range in price from $10 a set to as much as $80 and pretty much always are only available from dealers in Japan. Just keep searching until you find something close enough that you are willing to pay for. I found a decent deal on some Volks that a place still had in stock.

Pleased that you have gone for the "proper" twin.. A BRZ.. looking forward to the build. Are you planning to reserve a space for "outtakes" or "cock-ups"?
