HKS are developing a 6-speed sequential transmission for the GR86/BRZ, so that's pretty cool

This is officially the longest time I've owned a single car and have it still be my DD. Not the most miles though. Still got about 60,000 miles to get there.

Also, this past weekend was the 11th anniversary of the First86 winner announcements which led me to this forum a few days later (Feb 1, 2012).

Heck, most folks active on here these days likely have no idea what First86 means any longer.

The Lava was the longest I ever owned a car.

Splitting lanes has never been very appealing to me since my biggest concern riding is always other people. I also have the luxury of a backroad twisty commute with no cars for most of the way so it's not really a problem either.

Meh. Those are a bit long in the tooth now. The Yamatriples have been attracting more attention lately.
A fast first bike isn't a really good fit if you haven't been riding at all. There's a lot more risk than only going fast.
For 10 miles an electric bike would be an ideal non-freeway deal right now.

For used bikes in CA have a look to the Bay Area Riders Forum (BARF). Long history and good folks.

.
The XSR9 is next on my list when prices even out to mostly sane with a periodic xanax level. The Yamatwins are pretty good too.

I've owned some cars longer but they weren't really "my car". For example, we've owned MomHawk's 2005 Mustang since new but I've probably put less than 1,000 miles on it as a driver in those 17 years. Also, we have twice moved cars "downstream" to the kids as they started driving, but we retained ownership until they bought their own or "went off payroll"
