Still beating on a 13' that hasn't had the recall performed here

I actually pulled my original engine to fix a timing cover leak and then promptly blew up my spare so it had to go back in. My OG engine is at over 100K 40ish track days.

I'm being sarcastic because its laughable to claim that the the body and a process defined to help the identify safety issues with cars, so its not left entirely in the manufacturers hands, is a waste of effort.

Its also laughable that you think what I said doesn't make sense. That is just a piece of shit response.

Gatekeepers on these forums working overtime. What a joke.

Yet the J02 recall was done entirely voluntarily after very, very, few failures and it is the same manufacturer that we are currently talking about

Who is gatekeeping? You're making advisories about a system in which you haven't experienced(different country), on a platform you don't own. We've been through this shit and lived it.

no, you're just a poor 1st gen owner. you're not as well off as the 2nd gen's. you couldn't buy a 2nd gen if you wanted to.

and everyone knows if you can't afford a 2nd gen you have no idea how any of this really works.

I assume not a lot of failures as well, but I know they fixed it 5 years before they recalled it. I don't know if anyone has a number of the total engine failures or failures officially diagnosed to contribute to it, but it would be interesting to see.

If that means they shouldn't recall this issue, or we should be happy that issue waited for 5 more years to be recalled (or any customer of a car with an widespread issue that contributes to engine failure, as has been reported already with the RTV chunks), then I don't agree.

https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/acms/c...72&docType=RCL

I repeat - The only reason that the valve spring became a NHTSA issue at all was because Subaru asked for it to be.

Less than 1% of the cars made so far have had engine issues whether related to the RTV in the pan or not that is not "widespread".

The manufacturers have all the facts and will base what they do on them not the emotions of a very tiny handful of car owners.

Nobody has said that there should not be any action and there most likely has been that we do not see.

The recall was about valve springs not silicone.

And when the repair created more issues than the original recall there was no recall on the recall. Not that I recall at any rate.

This is what my comment is referring to. Don't change the subject or try to paint it as a response that it is not. This kind of stuff takes time, like watching a cruise ship try to turn. No doubt Toyota and Subaru looked into what caused the issue, the corrective measures in production. How many units were affected. Probability of failure and so forth. Corrective measures on potentially affected cars will probably follow if there are any. It's only been what, 6 months since this issue popped up.
