then new IS will still drive like a pig. Still a total commuter car unless you opt for the IS-f or the RC-f.

This sounds like the opinion of someone who hasn't driven any of the current generation entry level sport sedans. In terms of driving dynamics, the IS and the ATS are leading the pack

There were several attempts and promises over the last 16 years to crack the 2ZZ ECU which were unsuccessful. Anyone that is trying to squeeze extra performance out of the 2ZZ is running a stand alone ECU like Apexi PFC or AEM. No one is trying to crack the stock 2ZZ ECU anymore to the best of my knowledge. Toyota's ECUs since about 2000 have been pretty much uncrackable. Piggy backs and stand alone engine management has been the solution.

On the plus side, it looks like Toyota learned their lesson with the Twins (though that could be more of the Subaru DNA)... It feels like the 2zz was almost left to starve in terms of aftermarket (unlike it's Honda counterparts)

I drove an IS300 today. Damn fine car. Really like the new tune on the 2GR-FSE for daily driving. Linear and really plays nicely with the transmission.

The car went into the shop for a fuel purge issue, and we received the same car for a loaner, took it snowboarding and put it through it's paces, the automatic shifts seamlessly and the turbo doesn't loose boost and scoots with pep. |

I like the facelift. IMO, it looks way better than the current model.
