I would love to give Brzedit a try, but according to @epifan in this post, saved files are not compatible with RomRaider any more. And after reading the thread, I still could not determine, if Brzedit generally locks the ecu.

Compatibility to open-source solutions is a must to prevent vendor lock-in. And I would like not to block the path of using an OFT if I eventually pick one up in the future.

I know from experience that a Tuner can lock their tune AND lock access to your ECU with BrzEdit. I had this problem and could not access my ECU with ecuflash until I bought BrzEdit and flashed their stock ROM file.

Their ROM files, I believe, are a different format. I can check this when I get home.

It's a very good program and the logging is excellent. I prefer it to EcuTek for it's ability but useability and GUI is a little more tricky to get around. Once worked out, though, it's good.

It's similar to EcuTek in that it is a stand alone system. You can't cross over between the different systems. I can definetally see why it is popular with Tuners though.

Think I give Brzedit a try anyways.

At least I can get my OpenPort back to logging until there's financial headroom for an OFT.

Thanks for the replies.

Why not just use RomRaider or EcuFlash which are far more supported than WinOLS

the cheapest reliable option will be tactrix\ecuflash to read and write rom and romraider
to edit.

Unless you very skilled at writing software and rom reverse engineering.
