I built an NT 4 machine once. Fucking huge mistake. Couldn't run any consumer-grade peripherals. NOTHING was ported to it. Might as well have been OS/2.

On the plus side, since I've built my system twice now, I'm fairly proficient at it. If all my future builds can take 30 mins to put together and then have 5 hours of subsequent trouble shooting, I'll be a happy man.

Lol jk, I'm never doing a full, fresh build again.
Just be glad you weren't doing this 10 years ago when windows didn't have most of your standard drivers and shit. Everything is much easier now. Your future troubleshooting will be much faster too. My last tower was assembled and running on the first try. Longest part was installing windows. Over all about 3 hours of work from boxes to installing games. No issues at all. I've only assembled 5 towers

The missus and I have a pact. We don't do Valentines Day. She cheated today though. We had cheesecake with little pink roses for dessert.

So what if I'm a really skinny 16 year old trying to eat more and do some cardio to get some exercise in?

Don't worry about it. Just eat what you want, stay active and enjoy your teenage years.

They may have been the most spicy thing I've ever eaten in my life. It was pulled beef in a jerk sauce with ghost peppers. I had maybe 10 fries from it, and the woman had almost the rest. I do not envy her bathroom trip tomorrow morning.

Had some roast duck at some schwanky marina/inn/restaurant on the shoreline. It was a nice place. It was in a town where my grandparents used to have a house so lots of childhood memories came back on the drive in.

Can I do cardio as a warm up? Like just a mile of light bike/elliptical/etc. That's what I did today as warmup and cool down. Rest was getting body used to working out again. SO MUCH FUN!

I recall some of the stuff you mentioned, thought I bookmarked it though. Hardest thing isn't actually working out, its going to be diet. :/

Welcome to the world of IT! Mounds of frustration but when you finally get things to work, it feels like you saved the world.

Depends on what you want. If you want big muscles, cut the cardio unless you really want it for the endurance (like Ichis soccer games) and keep eating more until you start growing. The body essentially needs 2 things to grow: stress (exercise), and nutrients to build with. Just don't eat too much trash or you'll get fat. And don't even consider steroids for another 15 years cuz you'll fuck up your hormones doing it too young. Then you'll be paying for hormone therapy for the rest of your life just to not feel like shit every day

This. I've built PCs going back to the late 80's when components were just becoming available on the open market and building it yourself was half the price of off the shelf. I miss the huge PC shows where vendors came in and sold components (think gun show for computers).

A lot of people don't give Microsoft props for the work they have done on the OS over the years to make it (almost) fully hardware independent.

These days (really since about XP) you can literally take a functioning OS hard drive out of, say a, Dell computer, plug it into a custom built tower with completely different components, and the OS will start up and most components will work, although some may need some tweaking. The OS may not think its licensed (damn DRM) but it will run. That is no easy feat.

It's been a while since I've fully built a computer from the ground up though. Like @Cole hinted at, its usually cheaper to just buy a standard computer and tweak it a bit. The Dell Outlet is a good source for that (deep discounts on their XPS and Alienware lines) that are hard to come close to building yourself.

Primarily the only time I would stick build one any more is if I wanted dual video cards, or some other very specific item. Like I have plans on paper to build a flight sim that will need dual video cards and lots of USB ports. That I'll build, if I ever manage to get around to it.
