I guess I could give more back story.
I have to "train" this guy on routine level 1 stuff on an almost daily basis. That becomes a burden and annoying so I'm at the point where I just take care of it instead.
Since we're on nights (our manager is day shift) and our work is considered sightly abstract, our manager really has no idea what each individual does (or how long they're really at work).

I feel like I pretty much have to rat this guy out.

Don't let Hum fool you he loves it. Our grandkids live in another city so we grab them for the weekend whenever we can. Would have had them more often when they were little if we were retired. They grow up so damned fast that it is hard to grasp they were babies once. The oldest will be about your age by the time I retire though. Maybe we will get to do the 24/7 thing with the great grandkids in 10 years or so.
Well, yes, technically it would be a 24/3 tour of duty ....... but, I'm sure at the end of the tour ....... it will have seemed to be 24/7 .......

Yep, we actually do enjoy being with the granddaughters. Just watching them "grow" is an experience that I was "too busy" much of the time to pay attention to when our three kids were small......

You would pawn them off in a New York minute because you, your parents, and your kids would gleefully participate. It's just the circle of life.

Bring it up to your manager?

I've been able to cover the mistakes for years now so our team doesn't look bad, but we had an issue and I was too busy with other things to fix it before other people noticed it.
Now we all look bad because 1 guy can't do his 1 job.
I'm late to the party and Boomerang pretty much nailed it. Never cover up for the weak link.

Sunshine is the greatest disinfectant.

edit: yeah, sounds like the come-to-Jesus meeting is long overdue.

Kind of reminds me of back-in-the-day ...... in the old straight leg Army. A mortar platoon (squad) consisted of several members. Each had specific duties; plant the aiming stakes, carry and set the base plate, carry and lay the tube; man the plotting board; communicate with the FDC (Fire Direction Center); act as a FO (Forward Observer) and the ammo bearer.

If any one individual wasn't capable of or wasn't able to carry out his duties ..... the mortar was totally useless.

Now, in a non-combat situation, some of the duties of one member could be covered by another member. However, in a combat situation, all members had to be up to task.

If all the supervision and training failed to make the team complete, the "weak link" had to be replaced.

So, maybe that "weak link" in your unit should be reassigned or "allowed" to pursue other employment, that would be more in line with his capabilities .......

Kick'em in the balls and then slap'em across the face. Then tell him to get his F'in head out of his ass!

See if that works first.

Just played 18 with my pops. I improved by ten strokes today versus the same 9 I played on Wednesday, and was about dead nuts even with the other 9 I played yesterday. Ah well, was a great time. Almost never have a bad day on the course with my dad

I was keeping it at about double what par was today... not bad for my first time playing real golf though. I just did driving range or mini golf before this and watched the pros play. It takes some creativity to pick the right club and stradegy to stay on course.

Yep, before last year, I hadn't played in about ten years. Was rough getting back into it, but now I have patience, don't get pissed off and just generally enjoy my time out when I play. Normally I'm a par to double bogey golfer. My dad and I had a few too many brewskis on the front nine and we had major meltdowns halfway through the back nine.

I got the guy who has worked there for 5 years moved to a different shift at work. Took a while but lets just say things are a bit more efficient on my shift now. Kept on nagging the supervisor.

Oh, dunno what you exactly do but if its anything in the realm of support, I can do level 1 stuff!!!

Yeah, my grandma nagged me (and my cousins) to have kids already so she can be a great grandma. I'm like.. but you already have plenty of grandkids!!!

Oh, soulreapersteve ...... stop pounding on yourself. Just tone up the leg muscles you have ....... if you weren't born with certain muscles formed a certain way ...... it's tough to change the design of the definition.

OK, I'm going to do 3 repetitions of lifting this heavy CD into the player and kick back and take an overdue nap, in my recliner ......
