Had my 5th conversation with a cop in a parking lot about my car today. Pretty sure the guy left drool marks on my hood. He said he had never see one before and it was love at first sight. He even sat in it and played with all the controls. Last I saw he was caressing the salesperson's card I gave him and nodding his head as I pulled away.

Five separate conversations with different cops. Actually 6 different cops since one conversation involved two of them. Only 3 were actually in parking lots I guess.


1) Cop followed me into donut shop parking lot in a small town near where I have my cottage. He waved me over and just wanted to look at car. He bought me coffee and we chatted about the car. A few weeks later a blue BRZ showed up parked down by the police station. I have never seen the driver but believe it is him.


2) Cop patrolling the park where my cottage is pulled over while I was washing the car. I gave him a Coke and we chatted about it and cars in general for at least 45 minutes. He took a salesperson's card but I never saw him again.


3) Was traveling early in the morning (4am) and stopped at a highway service center. There were two patrol cars in the lot but no sign of the cops. I was stretching and having a smoke when two cops come out of the center and start walking toward me. One of them says "we need you to settle a bet for us" I say "sure if I can" The other says "what colour is that car? I say it is orange and Joe (whatever his name really was) says it is brown.". I told them they were both right depending on the light at any given point. We talked about it for a while and all went in and they bought me a coffee. In hindsight, I seem to spend a lot of time drinking beverages with cops. One of them took a salesperson's card. About two months later I got a call from the dealer to come and get my $50 referral gift card since one of them bought a used FRS.


4) Stopped at a light and a cop pulls up beside me, rolls down their window and motions to me to do the same. I roll down the window and he asks me what year and make the car is and says it is very nice. I tell him and he asks how much horsepower. Before I can answer the light changes and off we go. Get stopped at the next light and I say only 200. He says "ya but a nice light handling body and suspension I bet". I say "ya no red light warrior but in the turns...". He laughs and says he needs to go check them out. The light changes and off we go. I then turned so that was the end of the conversation


5) As per above. The guy was almost shaking with excitement so I expect another referral payment in the near future.


I have never once been pulled over in the FRS. In fact I have not been pulled over since 2006 although I do see a lot of frantic computer entries in my rear view mirror when cops pull in behind me.

That would be Canada for you! Here in the states you'll rarely have someone pull you over to drool about your car.
