@dragoontwo, could you give me some tips on how to remove the center console. Where can I pull and where do I need to remove a screw? I wanted to see about routing a USB cable to the glove box this weekend.

Hopefully the images post in the correct order.

Pull the panel under the switches first. Then the 2 screws behind it. Pull up on the e-brake cover. Pull the outer shifter surround up and back. Pull the inner shifter surround up and out (remove the knob first).

Thank you. This will work great! You should have got a pic of the new cup holder from the automatic console.

Ok. So it doesn't work. There is a different part number for the console cupholders as well as the whole center console. The AT console with the cup actually sits about a half inch higher and the mounting points for the cubby are equally a half inch off.

PN for the AT setup:

Console Box: 92114CC000
Console: 92113CC010

The console plastic is cheap, but the replacement box with the right mounting points is a bit pricey.

MT Console

AT Console

Height Difference

Thanks for the comparison. Are you going to grind or cut the AT one to make it fit? Or is it just too different to mess with?

The console goes in the car just fine. The cupholder cubby doesn't cross over.

As I said in the first post. It took me a bit to get the part to finish because Subaru was a bit slow in getting my voucher out. I got the parts before going on vacation.

Honestly how hard would it be to use a hole saw and cut in a cup holder on the manual? Put a thick rubber gasket at the top and drop in a cup holder. If there is clearance below to accommodate this in the manual, that is likely what I will end up doing

@Kado How much depth is available below the manual transmission console?

Man, just like 5 more mm and it would have worked.
When you says it's a tight fit, is that length, width, and/or thickness? This seems like the best/obvious place to put one. Even if we had to cut the tabs, if someone 3D prints a cubby that works well I would think demand would be high.

I have a magsafe cheeseplate mount I was planning on bolting to the console right where the cupholder is on ATs. I've installed them before and looks super clean, but a printed cubby would be even better if it will fit plugged in.

crazy the design differences between a/t and m/t. that's literally a GM move there. very a-typical for a toyota product.
