Also "seems like a dumb way" to make a problem (providing health care) a lot more difficult. Solving the challenges of Covid by reducing staffing makes no sense.

Nothing about any of this is funny to me. Saul Alinsky opined that "Ridicule is man's most potent weapon," and it seems to be a popular one here. I am not, will not, and have no desire to, fight(ing) anyone or ridicule anyone. Sharing statistics, articles, discoveries, views, and ideas seemed to be the point of the thread. If the point ot the thread is to continually affirm that Covid is real and dangerous, that would seem unnecessary because we all agree on that. If the point is to ridicule anyone not echoing the firmly held stances of the most vocal, frequently vulgar, and ridiculing posters, how is that helpful in any way?

I was trying to have a productive conversation, and in return read posts asserting thar that my life experiences are "BS" and that my perspective is twisted. Those are opinions, not facts....and opinions that lent nothing at all to a rational discussion. The statistics and life experiences I posted are facts.

We agree on a few things. The newest one we agree on is that my further involvement in this place is useless. It's too bad. Before a lot of true personal ugliness came out in this thread, we had a lot of laughs and even helped each other out a bit over the years.

All the best to everyone, regardless. May we all care for each other and live fruitful, productive lives with joys to lift us through the sorrows.

Here we have a textbook example of taking the victim stance after being called out for blatant sanctimony. Deleting most of your post after being called out on it confirms your understanding of exactly how it read to your audience. We all know full well your point that you don't want to be told what to do. Flowery stories of religious affirmation and personal struggle don't free up hospital beds so, other than whining about the invasion of personal freedom, what is your actual point?


More importantly, again, bring an actionable, practical idea to the table.

Those arguing for have largely been trying to protect themselves and others from ALL of the various outcomes; a few days off work, permanent flavor and smell changes, any of the many other weird long (how long? don't know yet) side effects, killing a family-member or friend without knowing it, etc...
Or is it that those deaths don't matter, because something else killed more people? maybe we should stop trying to solve ALL the things that kill us early and focus just on the top one? If I run someone over and kill them, will that hold up in court? "oh, but really this is just one death, it was not significant because this other thing kills SO many more people."

We have ways to reduce the impact. We should use all of those, just like we do for EVERY OTHER THING ON THAT LIST, to the best of our current knowledge and understanding.

I wanna touch on this point for a moment.

I made the post that we recently lost a very good, and close family friend. And it sucks as my Uncle (the best friend of this family friend) is now feeling a moment of survivors guilt.

One of my close friends and coworkers lost her step-mother the other day too. And now her father is feeling all sorts of guilt as he is convinced he gave it to her (which it does in fact sound like he did) and now he feels responsible. Despite her having underlying risk factors.

There is far more than just death involved with COVID. And I cannot reiterate it enough that one's selfish act can cause more pain and suffering than they realize. It's not just physical, it's emotional and financial; with the burials and other death related bills.

I think the most devious trait of covid is that its equally deadly as it is innocuous depending on the host.
