New Kouki 86 JDM Smart key fob
Hello,
Browsing through the japanese website of the kouki 86 I've come across something cool, it seems the kouki 86 has a new key-less entry key fob, different to european market at least; it seems similar or the same as the new gen Prius or CH-R key, The kouki BRZ has a new key aswell, though it seems like it is just a new cover on the same new fob of the Toyota: ¿Has anybody got their hands on one of them? I think you should be able to code it through the stealership for our cars, getting rid of the ugly Yaris fob. |

Hmmmm a couple of hundred dollars to change something that stay in your pocket all the time seems like a good idea to people?

I have a 2015 brz limited and it is the same except the lower portion has a silver panic button. Scion owners got shafted. Although after having it a few years, a key feels more old school 'racecar' to me now than a start button.

True. At least a flip key changes the function a bit.
My wife's new Impreza has the new Subie version and to be blunt it really isn't that spectacular looking in real life. It is just a fob with a nice logo on it.

I have a 15' BRZ premium and enjoy the fact I have to put a key in to start, but I'm older. lol

A physical key will never fail to open my door, unless something is seriously wrong.

Neither will a fob if you make sure the battery is changed on a regular basis. I have broken about a dozed physical keys in locks over the decades I have yet to ever have a fob fail me. Even with the FRS I always use the button and have never once inserted the key in a door or the trunk.

I now get off my soap box: key-less entry with press button start is awesome, no matter what color or shape the fob happens to be. "The key start is dead, long live the press button start"

Dropping a few dollars on something that lives in your trousers is not too uncommon. A few hundred I bet would ensure it got to see some daylight.. as for the key fob, not worth the dough.

FYI: The USDM 2017 86 with push start has the exact same fob as the Scion, the only change is the Toyota badge in place of the Scion one.
