FYI,
I run a catless header and JDL Quiet Pipe into stock mid-pipe and axle back.
I enjoyed reasonably quiet motoring until a severe cylinder 2 misfire destroyed the cat. I had to have a shop gut the damaged cat.
My car is now MUCH louder at high idle start-up and when on the throttle at low rpm which I don’t mind. Once up in the power band it isn’t annoying at all. Highway cruising is excellent, almost unnoticeable exhaust volume.
But, like others say. Run the header into stock system first. You do pickup much more volume just with the catless header change.

You are the only person ive found with same exhaust setup. Well, except for the header im running a cnt racing catless

At some point i was going to go invidia q300, but sounds like you found a cheaper route for more volume

I honestly don’t know how it sounds outside. Hopefully not wake the neighbours loud. I’m an old fart who was satisfied with the interior tone before losing the frontpipe cat. I’ve gotten used to the new volume now and will leave it as is.
That said, my wife hates it. Fortunately for her it’s not our DD.
Next time at the track I’ll have my Buddy lap it so I can hear the roar.
Besides, he’ll enjoy the Miata +++ power.
