I don't know your definition of minority but this seems to be an issue with the kit, because its not only one or two cars with it

I've read about it happening a few times, but not on every install. I would guess that it was a bad batch of some sort?

This is purely anecdotal, but it seems like it's the ceramic coated versions that have the flange warping issue. I'm not sure how ceramic coating works exactly, but doesn't it involve heating to extreme temps for adhesion?

over 150 kits sold, so 5 or more would fall outside of typical error percentages but it is not mass produced so error percentages may be 10-12%, not 3-5%

I thought only the turbo itself was ceramic coated. At any rate we'll see the outcome shortly. Working through shop -> distributor -> AVO still...

My headers, turbine housing and dump pipe were all ceramic coated. Header flanges were not completely flat but when questioned Avo said they were within spec. I used copper silicone and forester turbo gaskets and not hearing any leaks so far. Not running any boost yet though as not tuned. I don't suspect that should make much difference though.

If it's black, it's ceramic coated. So in the AVO kits case, it's the Header and downpipe.

I'm about 90% done my install now, to the point where I ran it for about 20 minutes. We're still about a month and a half away from the snow starting to melt, but I'll be able to lower it from the jackstands soon and clean it all up just in time for spring.

Here's a quick vid I took of the BOV sound. It's the AVO bov set to 50/50

Can't tell much is it more audible outside of car??

Yes the BOV is audible outside.

Sounds awesome! Did you have the factory airbox or a CAI?

Nataku,

That kind of looks like the headers themselves twisted and not just the flanges. Might of been worthwhile to integrate a flexpipe into the original design, if that's the case

Yeah that's exactly what happened, and why the machine shop didn't want to do anything. The flanges themselves have always been slightly warped but could have been resurfaced if the pipes hadn't torqued the way they did.

That's really weird, especially for a heat treated header. Did you do the install yourself, or a local shop?

Brady at @Pure Automotive did the install. He could speak to the install process and parts quality better than me.

The exhaust leak has always been there and we tried using better gaskets / copper RTV to seal it up. It came back again so I dunno. Just tired of dealing with it and want new headers lol. More than anything I want to stop paying for this rental car and drive my damn car again...
