Cylinder Numbers

Hi,

I searched, and found 3 answers, all of them different, which is confusing, what is our cylinder numbers vs placement?

If I am looking at the engine bay standing in the front, which cylinder is where?

IIRC there were some threads about cylinder firing order. Try searching on that via google +site:ft86club.com

Not firing order, the actual physical placement of each cylinder vs DTC codes.

Like a Cylinder 2 Misfire, which one is it?

Garage
so by that diagram cylinder 2 would fire 3rd, and cylinder 3 would fire 2nd.

My guess would be 1 is front left and 4 and back right (when standing in front of the car, facing the engine bay).

Cylinder 2 misfire would be driver side front.

The physical cylinder number is in order from front to back. Cylinder 1 is the front passenger cylinder. The driver side front is 2, passenger rear is 3, driver rear is 4. The driver side bank is actually offset rearward relative to the passenger side bank; cylinder 2 is directly between 1 and 3.

The fact it's a diagram showing a distributor it worries me it might be wrong. But everything else I could find points to:

1- Front Passenger
2- Front Driver
3- Rear Passenger
4- Rear Driver

Reminds me of back-in-the-day ....... the FIRST time I put new spark plug wires on my old stove bolt 6 Chevrolet. Yep, yanked ALL the old wires off, got the new set out ...... now, which wire out of the distributor, went to which spark plug ......

Yep, that's when I learned the difference between no fire, misfire and backfire .......

humfrz - don't do that no more .....

Waste of time if you waited that long for revision.

broke atm so don't have the funds to get it retuned just yet. and they had told me last year they would do it once I go the car back on the road(was winter)

Phil got in touch with me, communication didn't get to him, no issues now though he replied fast and is awaiting my email with all the info. Really satisfied with how fast they came back to me once made aware.
