I bought the 10-series new from a dealer but came with broken el dash. I took the car to a dealer and its been more than 3week but they still have not figure out to fix it. They ordered second computer or something (can't remember exactly which it was) but it will take a while for it to arrive so they told me to take the car until parts arrive.

Anyways, I noticed the el dash lighting up but only when I turn on the engine. I thought it should light up when door is open/closed and also when on/off switch is toggled?
It should light up as soon as you open either door.

I haven't messed with the on/off switch, as I thought that was just for the LEDs on the bumper.

Changing the FOB batteries appears to have fixed problems I was increasingly having with starting my car. The moral of this story is; don't hang your keys < 20 feet from where your 10 Series is parked.

It took me a while to find some instructions on how to crack our FOBs open. It turns out that the FOBs, like our tires, come from the Prius. Googling FOB+FRS will get you squat. Here are some good instructions with plenty of pictures:

Only problem my car has had was with a check engine code i was getting due to an aftermarket intake. Switched back to stock with k/n filter and no problems.

Welcome aboard! Former 2006 Si Coupe w/ navi owner myself and proud owner of #1491/2500. The car is tons of fun and this forum is as entertaining as it is informative -lots of good people here. Best of luck!!

P.S. just because the car doesn't have 300hp don't think you won't get carried away on long stretches or winding roads.

P.P.S that's a really low number you got there.

Don't know how you would do that since there is actually a physical key that matches the locks, unless the key fits in exactly the same way in the other replacement key fob. Then that would be the same design again. Besides, do you even use the key fob? The whole point of keyless entry and start is that you do not need to use the key fob at all.

Yes. When my dog is riding shotgun on errands, I leave the car running with windows up, a/c on and then lock the door with the mechanical key keeping him cool, comfy and secure for the few minutes I'm gone.
