Question about Winjet Headlights

For you guys worried about fogging...some fogging during the first few days after installation is normal. If you do choose to bake the headlights to take them apart...about 200 deg for 8 min should do the trick. Get the 3m window weld to use for the new sealant (works better than silicon sealants). The 3m window weld has never leaked with my projects. For the guys wanting hids for their winjets...just get a set of hid bulbs and don't bother with a retrofit. Ive done retrofits before and believe it or not my winjets have great light output, aim and cutoff with hids and no retrofit.

Hey @Midarete what did you do to make your LED light up with the projectors? Or is the shot taken with the high beams?

That is with the highbeams on, but @fteightysix sells DRL mod for $50 where you can have the DRL on but dimmed while the headlights are running

Our mod does not dim the lights - they are not as bright as real 86 lights -

We tested these - they are bright but not bright enough to blind anyone

If needed we will work on a Dimmed design - and one specific for 10 series and Monograms

Thought they dimmed them, if the mod doesn't dim them then would it be problematic to drive with the highbeams on?

No problems.

The high beam is in the projector. The DRL is seperate.

This is True - The winjet projector is very good (Way better than OE) - When we got the first set and tested them there is a major light output difference with different HID Bulbs - I will let @Gixxersixxerman comment more -

We have tested about 5-6 different bulbs and found that some compare well while others compare above and beyond -

There is a major light output difference in all the Retrofits we have done also - I have watched Thomas "tune them" to get a good crisp light output

Output Photos Please of the cutoff, real curious as to the cutoff

These are D2S projectors at 25 feet, how do yours compare?

I'll post up what we did here in the shop

Stock winjet bulb and projector

Stock winjet projector with upgraded Morimoto XB35 5K bulb

Retrofitted Mini D2S projector running upgraded Morimoto XB35 D2S bulb

As you can see the stock projector doesn't come close to a retrofitted one. These are cheap Q5R replicas or knockoffs, while better then a OEM projector in the cars, and a lot better once they have a hid kit installed in them, they just don't come close to a retrofitted set.. I'll put my retrofitted setup against the shops 10 Series stock HID setup and know mine is better. I have "tuned" my set up and I run 185$ Osram 66240 CBI bulbs.. And Bulbs make a big difference.. Anyone that says a cheap 30$ kit bulb is the same as a quality ORM bulb or even the XB35 bulbs with the handmade German capsules don't know anything.. If your wanting the most out of your lights, then doing a retrofit is the way to go..
