I have a general rule to not start conversations anywhere. I don't need anymore people asking me to help them with things. plus I have enough friends that I don't talk to enough as it is.

This is exhausting. They call up 18 people to ask them questions to see if they’re suitable to be impartial jurors. Many of them lack common sense or basic communication (I don’t mean not speaking English, but not being able to just give definite answers).

But as this is going on we’re not allowed to do anything, not even read a book. So this means I’ll have to listen to the same questions multiple times until the end of the selection process.

If it helps, it's either this or live in a dictatorship. A day of being bored AF really isn't really that big of a deal compared to the alternative IMO. Also, they let you keep a phone with you? What luxury.

I've had some awkward situations at work where people have tried to start conversations/ask me questions while standing at the urinal next to me. I literally completely ignore them and don't respond to what they are saying at all. I think this one guy tried three separate statements/questions.

It was a two urinal situation and I was already standing there when they walked up. So they already broke the bathroom urinal etiquette rules by even going to the second urinal. Should've went to a stall. They were flawed right out of the gate.

True, true.

And yes and no. We keep the phones, but they have to be completely turned off. So you literally have no choice but to basically stare at the same thing in front of you (or the defendant ) for 3-4 hours between breaks.
