Just got an update from dealer and full ECU replacement is the next route. At first, they were not going to do an ECU replacement because the codes being thrown (p0016) was for intake side of engine and did not qualify for ECU replacing. They called Toyota who advised to replace finally.
Thus far: 1) ECU reflash to updated version - didn't work 2) 2 Sensors replaced (possibly cam shaft sensor/OCV sensor??) - didn't work 3) Waiting on full ECU replacement this Friday - crossing fingers Thank god for Toyota Powertrain warranty 5yrs/60k (car at dealer total of 8 days this Friday).

My 2016 HyperBlue threw up the CEL and traction control lights tonight. 3100 miles. I hadn't heard about this problem before today... oh boy.
Edit: Traction control light turned off after about 30 minutes, CEL turned off the next day. I took it to my local dealership and they pulled code 'p000b,' camshaft position slow response b1. They swapped the VVT sensors to see if it was the sensor or something else in the engine is failing, they told me to come back when my CEL came on again. The saga continues... Yeah, it was my tune that was off so I was running thin. Cosworth adjusted it.

2013 FRS VIN# xxxx21958 with 20,000 miles threw a p0018. I cleared it and it threw it again within the first mile. It also went into a limp mode that I suspect was a result of the cams not advancing.
Three weeks at the dealer. New cam gear mechanism and new ECU were installed. Just got it back. So far so good. The dealer told me the ECU had been replaced under warranty for the previous owner, so this is the third ECU in the car. I hope 3 is a charm. |

MT '15 FR-S with 18,xxxmi. and have had the camshaft sensor codes P000A & P000C thrown about 6-7 times since I've bought it new. These codes put the car in limp mode with the Slip Light and CEL, it also idles very rough and can stall in neutral. Now, I've taken it to one dealer(a couple months ago) and they had it for the weekend and they reversed the OCVs, long story short, that didn't fix it. Today, I brought it to the dealer (out of town) that I bought it from and they pulled the P000C code. They tell me that Toyota instructed them to have both cylinder head assemblies and gaskets replaced.

Sorry, I haven't checked my notifications in a while. I haven't seen a check engine light or noticed anything strange since the dealership swapped the sensor positions. Crossing my fingers it keeps up, but part of me doesn't like a problem just disappearing. The same kind of thing would happen in my tC (side mirrors, speedometer, sunroof all stopped working for a few months and then randomly worked again) and I drove that for 11 years, so who knows.

Torque Pro told me there was a p000a today. No CEL. I had been running the extra fuel map on the unichip. Forgot to change it back yesterday after wanting to run a little rich for a while. Hope it doesn't happen again, but as a prior 986 Boxster owner, I am used to having nightmares of critical engine failure.

Fixed my problem. I am no longer under warranty because of my turbo. Anyways, I just had the dealer swap out my ecu for me. I could have done it myself but I would have then needed to tow it to the dealer so that the dealer Can reprogram the security system on the new ecm so that the ecm could cooperate with my car. The head tech was cool enough to not start my car and let me reprogram my custom tune into the car. Ecutek was also a BIG help! Thanks Ecutek.

Hey Guys,
Just ran into these issues. Currently at 24,xxx miles on the odo. I have the same story as most im sure I was driving and then all the sudden my CEL and Slip light came on. I took it in the dealership this morning and they told me that my ecu needed to be reflashed. Waited about an 1 1/2 hours for them to fix my issues. They told me all was well except that I had an ABS light on my dash for some reason even though they said it was working fine. They said it was probably caused by my drift button on my e brake.... I kinda rolled my eyes and said okay. Anyway, driving home from the dealership both lights came on again. The CEL and slip light. This is really obnoxious, and I of course cant go back to the dealer till Saturday! However, they seem to be kind of aware of these issues so hopefully we wont have to do the run around and pretend that this car is super reliable.
