No need to stress over the Cvic any longer, as the 2022 model is now as BLAND as it can be:

https://www.motortrend.com/news/2022...erything-know/

https://automobiles.honda.com/future-cars/2022-civic

Styled and designed by committee, just like the 2022 BRZ.

[Design by committee is a pejorative term for a project that has many designers involved but no unifying plan or vision.]

Allegedly roof height is ever so slightly lower (but much depends on local ride height, I've seen various dimensions for the twins roof height ranging from 1290mm to 1320mm - unclear if the difference is inclusion of the shark fin antenna).

One thing I think is making it look taller is the new bonnet - it lacks the low and flat appearance of the gen I, instead it appears they have just raised it all a little and rounded it off. In truth it may still be the same raw measurement from the ground to the top of the bonnet, but it looks taller due to the changes in styling.

Lastly, for some reason cars seem to ride higher in the USA compared to other markets. The wheel gap in USA models often seems to be 10mm higher than the same model in other markets. Could be optical illusion, or maybe it is a change made due to local driving conditions and preferences... not sure.

Without perspective, it's difficult to ascertain the actual proportions. I think many minds will be made up whether the Gen2 twins get a thumbs down or thumbs up when we eventually get to see them in the flesh. I know I'm in that group.

I agree with the comment someone made here that the BRZ was a completely original design before whereas now it resembles various other vehicles from various angles.
I too feel the original taillight shape could have remained iconic had they evolved rather than changed it. The rear does resemble an Accord coupe among other things now. That is my 1 complaint and it's not a deal breaker.
The side vent provides some familial resemblance to the WRX. Perhaps non-Subaru people won't appreciate it but it is an iconic detail of Subarus highest performance model, rather than just copying a BMW/Lexus fender vent. This only shows the model has evolved with Subaru styling influence vs almost all Toyota styling last time.

Well they could have made the side vent look more like a Subaru WRX side vent than a Lexus F side vent if you want to go with the "evolution of a historical piece" approach.

Because as far as i can recall, the Lexus F side vent was kind of unique it its design when it first came out compared to every other side vent design, just like the quad stacked angled tailpipes.

i quickly perused some old civics and the closest similarity i can see is the 5th gen civic....

And even then you have to be legally blind to get the two mixed up....

Its almost as if "headlights pushed to the corner, with the hood sloping down to a lower bumper grille" is a common design theme still being used today.....

It's disgraceful to compare an EG to the new BRZ tbh. The EG looks so much better with some minor mods.

EG IS BEST! No contest. My parents had all 3 of the sought after civics... EF, EG, EK... two of which were Si's..

Something about the chunky/blocky late-80s styles always looks good to me.
Might be the clean lines. The mid-90s stuff tends to look a tad melted-soap to me... Quite liked the EK though!

No doubt the EG is a better car overall though!

For me, it's the 90s. So many cars from the 90s looked just right, and to this day still look good.
