OEM plugs or wire harnesses... where can we search for and buy them?
I'm really looking for a specific wiring plug that is used in our car but I was wondering if there wasn't a resource that had the plugs or harnesses for sale somewhere.
(I'm looking for the horn ones so I don't have to cut into oem wiring but can't find them for the life of me.)

Wiring Specialties is usually good about having random connectors/pigtails.

Do we know who makes the connectors in these cars ? (I haven't looked)
Mouser carries a lot of stuff - https://www.mouser.com/Connectors/Au...tors/_/N-1ehb5 |

You need to use the factory wiring diagrams to find the image of the connector. From there you can use this manual to identify the Toyota part number for your connector: https://www.toyota-tech.eu/wire_harness_rm/RM06H0E.pdf
The manual will also identify the type of connector. If you are familiar with the naming of the terminals you can occasionally track down the actual OEM of the connector. A lot of the connectors in our car are made by Sumitomo or Yazaki which do not have any distribution in the US at small quantities that I have ever been able to find. If the connector is common enough you can find knockoffs. Typically these are found just by using the Toyota part number in the manual I linked to above. For most connections I have found it is typically easier to purchase terminals from a few sites (www.cycleterminal.com or www.easternbeaver.com are 2 I use often) and then purchase the actual connector housing from Toyota. This makes a connector housing go from $1-$2 to $10 typically but it doesn't take much of my time trying to track down a source for the connector housing before I can justify just spending the extra to get it from a Toyota dealership. |
