Actually not true. In most cases it's mandatory for continued employment, at least in the medical systems I've worked for/around over the past 20 years.

Social anxiety is a great flu shot. Don't be around people, don't get sick.

Here at my hospital, if you refuse the shot you have to wear a mask in patient areas during flu season. In 29 years I have yet to go into patient areas. |

I remember, down at Fort Benning, they would line us up and run us through a line with a medic on each side armed with a jet gun. Some of the troops just didn't pay attention when they said "don't move"! Yep, the jet gun could cut a nice line in your arm - humfrz |

Anxious for my interview tomorrow. 5 hour block, 45 mins a person. 5 people interviewing me minimum and up to two extra at the end of the block (including the CTO/co-founder who spoke with me over the phone already last week).
Of course on top of that today my boss told me he's working on finally promoting me for the first time despite that I've already been there almost 2 full years full-time and it's long overdue. Yet, the way it was phrased is that in order to promote me outside the normal review cycle he has to re-label my position and use an opening for a senior position. Problem is I don't want to work as that kind of engineer (devops for those who know), I want to stay as software eng., but even right now most of my job has been devops, which is why I'm looking elsewhere.

The surgeon doctor took some more X-rays then sent my file over to the insurance people to make sure I will be covered for the operation (a laminectomy-laminotomy). Meanwhile, I have an appointment with my primary care physician to get a "medical green light" to operate. Also I have an appointment to get some blood tests done. Damn, at $50 per co-pay, it's adding up - No one really wants to operate on an old man - it's kind of like replacing the valve springs on a FA-20 engine, the operation may be successful, but something else in the machine may get messed up - The surgeon did give me some more (different) pain pills. They don't do much for the pain except they keep me from "crying out" in pain when I move wrong. They just don't to seem to want to pass out the "good" pain pills like back-in-the-day. Fucking tweekers have put an end to that form of pain management. Maybe I'll go down to the pot shop on the reservation and see what the medicine man has to offer - humfrz |

Also one thing that helped me is that I went to the restroom right before my interview, and on the way out I looked closely into the mirror and smiled to myself. It really helped to calm me down and set a positive mood. It sounds silly, but if you love yourself and who you are, others will see that. Confidence and a positive attitude are infectious!
