I would do it with you as Sunday's my only day "off."

You don't need to go to a school if you're interested in starting AutoX.

But, I would check out motorsportreg.com.

A quick look shows that there is a PCA school event at Baysox Stadium in Bowie on Sunday 3/16. They do pretty good courses there for their normal events, so I imagine their school is pretty good too.

Nope, the schools are great for learning how to get better at AutoX, but you can go to any event and there will be people willing to help you out. You'll learn more about driving at a school because you get one on one time with an instructor, but it's not a requirement or anything.

So don't worry about trying to find a school before you do an actual event. Just sign up and tell them you're a beginner, most clubs have an extra meeting for novices to explain all the rules, and they'll usually have a seasoned autoxer ride with you at least once to help you learn the course.

SCCA has a Novice school that is very good (Level 1 is what you want): http://www.wdcr-scca.org/SoloAutocro...6/Default.aspx

Otherwise I'd recommend Capital Driving Club. It is a casual atmosphere but still tough and challenging if you want it to be. Great for beginners and may Twin drivers there. Here is their website and you can see the schedule. Most of their events are on Saturday though. http://capitaldrivingclub.com/

The PCA event is really good for a first timer (I'll be there instructing). I'm haven't checked on the registration numbers yet - they do give PCA members preference if it fills up - but I don't think it typically does.

Autocrossers Inc runs mostly Sundays this year in Waldorf. We don't have schools but we have plenty of instructor types willing to hop in your passenger seat and point you in the right direction, plus many who will welcome you into their passenger seats so you can see what goes on at speed.

First event is this Sunday. Search them out on DLBracing.com
