Just to clarify... what does stage 2 entail/include?
Obviously the flexfuel + tune, but full exhaust?

I've ordered the headers/OP only because I can't find a sound I like for a reasonable amount of money for the rest of the exhaust.

I suggest the following, based on 15 cars we have done and dyno tested in DBN, all producing similar results on various fuels

Good drop in filter - K&N, Blitz, AFE. If you opt for a CAI Takeda or Skunk 2
Header - UEL for mid torque gain, EL more top end power. UEL has best sound
Overpipe - found no improvement, but if combo set won't hurt
Exhaust - BRZ exhaust from Subaru has proved to be very good and Toyota don't seem to give a problem as its supplied by Subaru.

(OP was part of the header package).

I don't like the sound of the BRZ/Subaru exhaust. Just doesn't do it for me.

Check out youtube... some good info and tests on CAI's - interestingly, they do nothing for power at all. The filter helps, but the 86 has such a good base design they literally didn't find any HP changing the design (not on NA cars anyway)

You buy E95 in 25+ L Containers and then you could decanter into a smaller 5L, get to the petrol station, pop the E95 in then fill up so it mixes nicely so not tooo bad.

I would run it permanently if not tuned for the reasons Steve mentioned but the stock ECU is pretty aggressive in detecting knock and retarding timing.

I've used rolfes. Good quality ethanol, just a bit of a pain to get cos they're in Germiston.
They only deliver on R5,000+ orders and don't deliver to residential addresses.

Gonna see if protea is more helpful in that regard.

Lets say I have E95/E5 and want to mix it with 95 what would the best mixing ratio be? And do I just run is with a normal 95 tune?

Do you have a flexfuel kit or an ethanol tune?
If not it is not a good idea to try and use ethanol in a normally tuned car...

Then you should try to stick close to the ethanol ratio your car was tuned on. So if it was tuned on e85, then try and keep to similar (there is generally a margin, so it's not like running e70 is going to blow you up, but don't push your luck too much! Most of the US guys tend to run between e60 and e85). Ask the guys who tuned/mapped your car what content they used.

I assume you need to switch maps between e?? tune and normal petrol tune?



I decided it was more worthwhile to just go full flexfuel. It costs more up front, but then I don't need to switch maps or worry about the ethanol content. The bluetooth link tells your phone what ethanol you're running anyway and I can run from 0% right up to 100% which is pretty cool. So far I've run up to e70 and it's awesome

Thanks for the input, the tune I have is E85, but all I ever see in places selling E95, so is there mixing ratios to achieve E85 from E95 with 95 ron?

Ah, now I understand.
You could probably run e95, but it's a percentage, so just dilute with normal petrol until you get to 85%
Assuming 100L of fuel, you already have about 5L with e95, so roughly 10L of normal fuel will get you close to e85 (not exactly cos it's mixed into e95, but close enough).
So that's about 5L for every 50L tank.
