I worked on the car a little.

I thought the whole bracket thing for the alternator extension terminal was a little weird. I have my own custom battery setup with a lightweight battery, so instead I decided to use the M8 threaded hole that was there, and I used a rivnut to mount the terminal. I enlarged the holes to use flange bolts instead of smaller head Allen bolts, but those would technically fit easier. I removed the red terminal cover and just used the grey one with a cut section on the side for the other wire.

I then worked on the starter wire. I stripped the plastic off like the instructions say. I had a piece of the cut harness on my used starter, so I cut a slit in it and used that with some heat shrink.

Lastly, I confirmed that the wideband O2 sensor harness will go through the firewall grommet that is for the sound tube. I just had to pull the grommet off and work it over the harness and then plug the grommet back in. I don’t know if the harness would reach through the shift boot to a downpipe bung in the engine bay, but this seems better.

I made a little progress after school. I used some rivnuts to find spots to mount the catch cans. From the looks of things, there should be plenty of room.

I worked on the AC lines and wiring loom. This shows the clearance and the wrapping I’ve done so far. Lots of stuff to still wrap to get a final product that is shielded from rubbing and looks good. The AC lines clear the JR Radiator Oil Cooler, but close, so I wrapped them, so nothing wears down. I also wrapped them, so they hopefully blend in against the dark background.

Looks good. I considered covering my a/c lines, and now I'm reconsidering it again before getting the system charged. At least the part by the firewall.

Can't tell if joking or not but just in case, it's air conditioning hard lines and hoses.

It’s for a Defi boost gauge.

Finished wrapping the chassis harness. I plan to cover and wrap the engine harness too. I don’t know how much slack is available on the starter and alternator lines, so I didn’t wrap them into one cover or secure them. I’ll zip tie them after the engine is in place. The AC lines are complete. I mounted them before dropping the motor in. Hopefully there will be clearance. The oil cans are mounted too. Again, should be enough room.

After school I’m going to try to prep the transmission. Planning to grind down some surfaces to clear the starter. I’ll try to keep myself busy, but I want to wait until Friday to install the motor, which is when I get the Fumoto drain valve.

Is that harness wrap rated for weather? The Tesa tape I have is for interior purposes only but I would like to find something like it for the engine bay like yours. The stuff I ended up using works awesome but is really glossy, at least for now. Hoping it kinda hazes up a bit with some heat and miles.

As for the A/c lines clearance, I had mine installed before dropping the engine and trans in. They were high enough that I had no issues, just be cautious of hitting where they bolt into the firewall and you're golden.

They make a Tesa tape that isn't as "fuzzy" as the interior stuff. I used it quite a bit on my engine bay last time around. I'll see if I can find what I bought.
