I honestly cannot wait till someone starts a weight loss thread with these...

...nothing too crazy like Anthony's weight loss build with his FR-S, but seeing these down to 2500lbs would be SO COOL!

I always wondered how a build with Anthony’s weight loss and @celek’s theoretical fa23 engine would go, but sadly both of them couldn’t see the light of day.

I am wondering where the extra weight is on these over the 1st gen. I had my 13 Brz down to 2,555lbs in STX trim.

As suggested above, put passenger in the trunk! Under the spare tire!

53:47 is *far* from "optimum" for an FR sports/sporty car, and they couldn't even achieve that.

Weight distribution is the same 55F/45R as the last-gen. Not great...

Yes, weight with me in the driver's seat. If the rear wheels were where they should be, right behind the front seats, driver weight would be mostly on the rear wheels. As it is, with rear wheels shoved way aft, driver weight is ~45F/55R...

Who was expecting a significant difference?
This car is almost exactly the same as the old one. Overall weight changed by less than 1.5%. Even going from 55/45 to 53/47 is probably with both seats all the way back, no washer fluid, and all the shit from the glove compartment in the trunk.

Increasing the body rigidity, strengthening the drivetrain as well as adding "modern" equipment tends to increase the weight. They tried to keep the overall increase low, but they are fatter no matter what. Here is some detailed information of the factory savings:

Aluminum front fender: -3.0kg
Aluminum front housing: -3.0 kg
Aluminum roof panel: -2.0 kg
Hollowing of front stabilizer: -0.5kg
Weight reduction of muffler: -1.6 kg
Weight reduction of front seats: -2.6 kg
Weight reduction of propeller shaft: -1.1 kg

Front to rear weight distribution is almost the same. Not that much of a difference. There were also voices going into a turbo setup, but then front weight would be much more and cornering performance worse. Price would be higher too.
